Default Pitfall, 32X, Back Cover blurb.

Okay, so I've been trying to find blurbs from the back covers of all the 32X games. For the most part it's pretty simple seeing as box art scans aren't hard to find. For the life of me though, I can't seem to find any website that has the back cover art or text version of the blurb/description on the back of the box.

So, if anyone here has Pitfall for 32X, could you write just down the description on the back of the box?

    Thanks!

I never thought 256 color art in 1995 was much of a marketing point...

It's hard to sell a turd like Pitfall, that's probably the best part of the game

So how many levels does each version of this game have, exactly? I mean, it was on a lot of platforms -- SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PC (these four are dated to 1994), 32X, Jaguar (these two are dated to 1995), and GBA (2001) -- and evidently some versions do have more levels than others...

I see that the back of the 32X box claims 13 levels, three of them new. The PC version case also says 13 levels on the back. I don't know for sure about the others, but on GameFAQs a FAQ for the SNES version claims 11 levels, and a Genesis one 13... um, huh? Can anyone clear this up?

I'd also like to know since I've only beat the SuperNes release.

I never picked up the 32X or Jaguar versions since I wasn't aware that they would be any different, but gladly would if there's new levels.

Yeah, I saw comparison shots at another forum, and the 32X version is way better looking than most of the other versions.

Also, kgenthe, thank you so much. I'm making this excel sheet with box blurbs, and this was seriously the only US released 32X games that I couldn't find anywhere on the internet.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I felt that just about every version of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure rocked. It was/is one of my favorite SNES games ever.

Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure has been jawesome on every system. even PC.

that and blackthorne are the only two 32X games I played consistently.
    Aetherbyte: PC-Engine and more homebrew

I have the PC version, but it won't let me play it in fullscreen even though the help file says that the option should exist, and I hate playing games in a window...

Any way to fix this, or am I just stuck?

Yeah, I can't find anything that just says how many levels each version has, and which ones have new levels, etc. If the original version has 10 or 11 levels and the second version 13 or 14 (minus one if you don't count the final boss fight as a level), then why does that Genesis FAQ have 13 levels listed... ... oh, figured it out, it's because it's a Genesis/PC FAQ, it's just not properly labeled as such. Anyway, I checked, and this is what I've found:

Anyway, looking, here's what I've found. I'm counting the final bossfight as a level here.

    SNES: 11 levels (1994 release)
    Genesis: 11 levels (1994)
    GBA: 11 levels (2002)
Wii VC: 11 levels (SNES ver.) (2009)

    PC: 14 levels (1996)
    Sega CD: 14 levels (1994)
    32X: 14 levels (1995)

    Jaguar: ?? (1995) (I'd guess it's 14, but I can't find anything to confirm any number so I won't put one in)

Of course the PC and Sega CD versions (the only ones on CD) are the only versions with some FMV.

And the GBA version is missing the bonus 2600 Pitfall bit, if I'm not mistaken.

It might depend on what version of Windows you are using.

I believe you're right about that, yeah... the GBA version definitely is not one of the better versions.

I have Vista. Tried compatibility mode, did nothing.

Perhaps your video card drivers, then? This is one instance in which I would definitely not suggest trying the console versions instead.

Actually, in Windows 95 and 98/ME compatibility modes I get the error "bad or missing dispdib.dll - error 2". This does not appear with any other compatibility mode or with compatibility mode off. However, in anything above 98/ME mode the Sound Effects button is greyed out; the CD audio works fine, but there are no sound effects. In 95 or 98/ME modes enabling SFX crashes the game the first time a sound is made. Um yeah, that's great.

I've had audio problems in a couple of games on this computer -- I could never get the sound working in SimTower, for instance -- but usually there's no problem...

As for the console versions, I know the PC version is the best one for sure, but I'm sure the console versions aren't that bad, particularly the ones with all the levels, the Sega CD, 32X, and Jaguar versions. Sega CD has 56 colors, 32X and Jaguar not as good music, but I'm sure they're decent.

... But on the other hand I don't have a Jaguar, and while I do have a Sega CD and 32X I doubt the 32X version would be cheap enough for me to really want to get it, particulalry considering that I already have the PC version and it only cost me a few dollars.

Anyway, I'll try it on my old computer next time I'm home, but yeah it'd be better to actually be able to use it here fullscreen for sure. It's odd that the fullscreen options just do not appear in the resolution options list...

It could well be the video card drivers, I know that NVidia's newer drivers have all kinds of incompatibilities with older games. This is a pretty minor one really, far worse are the driver problems that make Shogun: Total War almost unplayable (You must use the horrible software mode) and Medieval: Total War literally unplayable with anyothing other than VERY old drivers, or that make games just not work... and those, at least, are definitely driver problems, not Windows. But other than downgrading my video card drivers, trying it, and then upgrading them again (because i don't want to leave it with really old drivers if newer ones might help other things...) would be quite a pain...

The difference between the 32x and Jag versions is that the background in the 32x version moves at 30 FPS and looks jerky. The Jag version has no issues with the background.
