Default The complete list of classic video gaming forums

I'm trying to compile a complete list of classic video game forums on the web. The only requirement I'll ask is that the forums must be mainly classic-related. Let's not count modern gaming forums with one section devoted to retro gaming, or forums that focus on just one system. Here's what I've come up with so far, please add to the list:

Digital Press Retrogaming Roundtable One of the oldest classic gaming boards on the web, about a decade old. Run by Joe Santulli, founder of Digital Press fanzine and owner of DP Video Games store in NJ.

AtariAge Forums Don't let the name fool you, it is not just Atari, but mainly classic in general. Al's board has also been up for about a decade, and is huge.

Zap! Classic Video Game Forums This one started last year, and is run by Ter Micharoni, founder of Zap! fanzine (1991-1993). Has many different sub-forum topics.

Retro Gamer forum Not many sub-forums, but has a huge amount of posts.

GameGavel forums The all video game auction site's forums.

Sega-16 is too one sided. As for Nintendo Age, is that a general classic gaming or all Nintendo board?

Sega-16 is too one-sided, yet you added AtariAge.

Sorry, maybe I'm mistaken, but isn't Sega-16 just Genesis/Mega Drive? If yes, I apologize. I didn't mean to offend, I admit I haven't checked that out in a while.

AA is not really one-sided. The name sounds it, but every area of classic gaming is covered.

You didn't offend me, but it's just strange. Atari Age really is one-sided. When you have a forum for every Atari system, then 1 forum for Classic gaming and 1 for modern gaming, I would think that's one-sided. Atari Age is just larger than most sites though, which is why it has Arcade, Emulation, and Prototype forums. But just because a site is one-sided doesn't mean it has nothing of value. I find that ridiculous.

I certainly didn't mean Sega-16 had nothing of value. All specialty sites are wonderful. I myself post on an all-Wii forum. Sega-16 is the site to go for Sega Genesis talk. What I'm trying to do here is just get a complete list of general, all-classic gaming sites.

AA, true, has several forums for each Atari system. But the only reason I counted them just because they also have sub-forums for ColecoVision / Adam, Intellivision, NES High Score Club,SMS High Score Club, Classic Gaming, Classic Computing, Prototypes, and others. If enough people don't consider it general classic gaming, I will edit the list and remove it.

I'm suprised you haven't mentioned RacketBoy at all. They have nifty guides and a pretty good sized forum section that mainly deals with classic games.
NES, Atari 7800, Genesis, SNES, Saturn, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Atari Flashback 2, Limited Edition Red Wii, PS3 Slim, GBC, GBA, GBASP, DS Lite, and PSP 3000.

No offense, but this seems like a veiled means to advertise your own forums. :P

Actually, I have another thread for that. I posted an identical thread on my own board, so the reason for me doing so is just to find as many classic gaming boards as possible. There are definite lists for all major Mustang, stamp collecting, and movie boards, so I think it's time to get one for classic gaming as well.

    Edit:Here's one more I forgot:

ClassicGaming Forums This one seems cool, and I just love their banner!

Come now. It was nice back in the day (even with Chuplayer as a regular), but it is now deader than a really dead thing.

    hg101.proboards.com is worth a go.

I'd be inclined to suggest vogons.zetafleet.com , and possibly the Abandonia forums, though I've spent very little time at the latter.

I know you said let's not focus on forums with one gaming console - but I feel that a good list should have these types of forums mentioned, because those are some of the best out there.

This is a good thread. These days, many forums have failed to stay, and it is good to know other great sites. Some sites I am not aware of have been mentioned, will check them out.

As someone else said, RacketBOY is a good and relevant site too.

I know this site is only based on the DreamCast, so not really what this thread is about as it concentrates on one system mainly, however, it is an excellent site for the DreamCast and has some great information on it: http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/
