Default No Resale symbol on Bust A Move 2 (Japanese version) game

I started playing my Bust A Move 2 PSX import again and I have noticed a symbol on back of the case that has a hand and the words "No Resale" over it. I haven't noticed this before and was wondering if this was some sort of full demo version or something less exciting. I can't find any SKU's that had this as a pack-in so that would be out. Any info on this?

A lot of game companies in Japan have stances against used game sales. So they have "No Resale" logos in the back of the games.

At one point in time it was actually illegal to sell used games in Japan(during the PS1 era if I'm not mistaken). But public outcry took care of that.

Nearly every Japanese game I have says "no resale" on the back. I don't think any of them do not have that on the case, in fact.

The rest of you already explained why, so there's no need for me to elaborate there. The logo is quite interesting nontheless: companies are still using it on their releases.

Really? I thought used games were on sale for years. It was technically illegal, but retailers used a loophole to get around the law. That's what I've been told, at least.

Last I knew it was never actualy illegal. I could be mistaken but the only thing they could do was prevent retail chains from carrying new product. Not bad if your a chain that only deals in used, sucks if you deal lots of new product. This could all be an urban myth though as the sources I cant remember all too well. Reguardless, the not for resale icon's nothing new and has been around for some time. Think I've got a few super famicom games with it on the back.

Pretty much all of my Capcom titles for the Saturn have that same "No Resale" logo on the back as well as a "No Copy" logo right next to it.

It's like putting a "This Home Secured by X" sign in your yard without an actual security system. For most, just the presence of it is enough to stop the behavior you're trying to issue avoidance to.

All Sony games in Europe also feature 'not for resale' on the back of the case, in that little copyright box.
