Default Where to go for Neo Geo repair?

Alright, so my friend has two Neo Geos, and neither of them are really working. We are fairly certain the problem lies with the pin connectors - years of heavy use have led to games initially only working if first "cleaned" with alcohol, but now they just straight up aren't working.

Anyway, he's wondering if there are any reputable Neo repair places on the web he can send his systems off to for fixing. Any leads?

I think that the pins in the cartridge slot are loose. You could tighten them with a small screwdriver.

I empathize "could" because I've only done it on the NES (piece of cake) and once on a Saturn (@#$%&) so I guess that it's possible with the Neo Geo as well.

Some Play 'N Trade's offer a repair service for old games. They advertise it on their website with no specifics because it varies by store. Call any in your area to see if they'll fix Neo Geos, which is unlikely but possible.

Other Mom n Pop used game stores may offer repair services as well.

Unfortunately, the closest PNT is quite a ways away. None of the local independent game shops seem set up to handle system repair, but I planned on asking around anyway.

And I imagine it is the pins; but good lord, there's a shitload of them and the thing is difficult to open up to get to em (I've tried already).

At least they are big. The Saturn ones are pretty small and cramped. Also there's a hidden screw under one of the rubber feet, maybe that's preventing you from opening it?

Most Play-N-Trade stores offer the repair service for anything they can repair in-house. It's usually easy repairs, such as 72-pin, RROD, and other things. I doubt that many store owners know how to work on a Neo-Geo or know someone willing to work on one, but it's possible.

Dean over at http://www.multimods.com/ does a lot of Neo Geo work. Dean just fixed the sound issue on my Turbo Duo and added a region switch, fair price and really happy with the result.
