    Default Gamecube internal battery

Looks like my Gamecube's PRAM battery is dead (the Cube lost its time and date settings for no other apparent reason).

If I don't replace the battery, will it affect any newly created (or updated) save files on my memory cards? Because if it doesn't, I won't bother with the replacement and will simply wait till I get a Wii (and still enjoy the console in the meantime).

Possibly with Animal Crossing, or any time-dependent game.

Otherwise, I don't think so. Maybe, but I doubt it.

Nah, not even with Animal Crossing. Animal Crossing just reacts to whatever date and time is in the Gamecube and changes according to when you last powered up the game.

Finally, turns out that my PRAM battery wasn't dead, just discharged. I used my Cube this weekend to play Twilight Princess and left it on for 2 days. Last night, I reset the console, adjusted the date to the current one and rebooted again. The console works just as it should, without the annoying lost parameters message upon turning it on.
