    And you know what?

That site totally deserves the 10k.

Sold for 9k I thought. Went just before the 13k one that created this whole buzz if memory serves.

I just merged the '$1,000,000 SE' thread into the other SE thread (2 in a week, that crossed over each other in discussion more than a few times).

It'll look a little disjointed and some of the conversation won't line up quite right, but both threads didn't need to be going.

    **quick wrapup**
    A) A SE shows up in a lot on eBay, sells for 13k gets mainstream press on Yahoo. (Recently before that, another SE shows up and sells in the range of 9k). This creates a huge demand for that 'old' Stadium Events game I used to play on Craig's List and the like, as well as many PAL copies of this game getting listed (and selling for WAY more than they are worth) to capitalize on the 'craze'

    B) Another SE shows up on eBay. This time it's sealed and when all is said and done, sells for 41k and gets ALL kinds of mainstream press, including more Yahoo! coverage among other major news media outlets. I don't know if the buyer has come through, but it's not been relisted. The beginning of this thread is about this sealed SE.

    C) RIGHT as the 41k one ends, ANOTHER 'sealed' SE shows up. This one people blow out of the water and it ends for over 1,000,000 as it was just shilled to death. People question its legitness in part due to the shrink wrap looking very 'off'. This game gets re-listed due to a NPB (gasp!) and this thread is currently in the 'discussion' of this re-listing as well as the cost of a game and its... 'crazyness' of sed cost.

    Game on!

Thanks for the merge PapaStu. It was getting annoying needing to post in both threads about the same exact thing.

The reseal is at $9.5k now. Has anyone gotten any feed back from the seller on where it was purchased originally? I'm interested in seeing what kind of story this person will spin. I'm betting it'll be something similar to "I purchased it from 'someone'..."

To be honest, I don't see a condition listing in his auction except for the description:
"In my posession here is probably the one and last SEAL brand new Stadium Events game on Earth."

If he hadn't stated "new", he could get away with selling a reseal. I wonder if anyone has the balls to purchase it and then file a claim because it's not new?
    *looks at bank account* damn...

It's funny just how easy it is to manipulate the market in the short term. I'm sure if even half of the "wow" auctions got some attention on Kotaku there would be short term stampedes for random stuff on a semi-regular basis.

Nothing changed about Stadium Events other than a couple of lucky bastards who got wind of the news and realized just what they had stashed away. But for how many years and over how many threads have people on this site and others talked about the game? All that's really changed is that people in the mainstream picked up on it and now all of a sudden video games have become the new stock market. This is exactly what happened in the 90s with comic books and it happened on a somewhat small scale (and is still sort of going on) with Atlus games.

I wonder how many Sunday afternoon speculators have popped up in GameStops around the country.

All that I'm sure of is that he's selling a box for Stadium Events, there could be a copy of Duck Hunt inside with no instructions. I just hope whoever buys it makes sure to open it and find out for sure.

What happens if somebody does file a claim? Wouldn't they have to return the item for a refund? It doesn't sound right that they'd get a full refund in addition to keeping the item.

Reason that if I ever stumble across something like this, I would not use Paypal under any means.

Hell, if it's for an insane amount of money, I would even go there personally with my lawyer!

So you're saying that Paypal allows people who file successful claims to get a refund and keep the item? That sounds really whacked.

As long as you give paypal a tracking number, i think you do whatever you want.

There really only is one person buying all these. I assume he is either crazy or is trying to corner the market. Reminds me of this episode of Goof Troop.

Are people putting in fake bids because they think it's a reseal? Those pepperoni face pimples kids!

I think SE *is* a rare game, but I think way more copies of the game exist than what people claim. I don't think it'll end up as overblown as Tengen Tetris was, though.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?

The funniest part about Stadium Events is that it is unplayable!

How many super valuable games are any good? NWC is fun but that's mostly because it's just a compilation of three good games. I always figured that was the great irony of the hobby. The most money for the worst crap.

What about Magical Chase for the TG-16? Isn't that supposed to be a good game? That's one game so far.

    Exactly.

I know more copies exist, but until they surface, it's only a dream.

But man, it would be great finding 50 sealed copies. I would sell one per year and quit my day job!
