So my local Hollywood Video has been closing for the past few weeks. My parents went once and purchased a few games for me, but they mentioned they weren't any good deals to be found on movies. Earlier last week I drove by that Hollywood video figuring it would be closed by now (I think it was 5 or 6 weeks since my parents bought those games). I saw signs in the windows, but figured they just haven't cleaned up.
Yesterday my Mom went by a health food store nearby and mentioned they were still open. I didn't really want to go, but my dad did and I decided to tag along. Good thing I did.
As it turned out, they a ton of DVDs from other stores that had closed that they were now selling. Most of these DVDs were not picked over, so my Dad and I got a few things.
DVDs were $3 for 10:
Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan
Star Trek III: Search for Spock
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Diamonds are Forever
Octopussy
The World is Not Enough
The Frisco Kid
Thunderbirds are Go
Exodus
War of the Worlds (1954)
A Disc from Star Trek Season 1 with The Menagerie Parts 1 and 2
I also picked up Deadly Creatures for about $9.
My dad was happy to find War of The Worlds for himself, and I think the employees were amazed that it was still there. Most of the Star Trek finds came from a section that was where children's movies were placed. It seemed that a lot of people probably mistook all the movies for kids movies and passed on it. I almost missed Wrath of Khan, but thankfully my dad spotted it while looking through the movies.
I have a sig?
CoooOOOOOooooooooooOOooKie Crisp! With the lovable Officer Crumb.
Living on the boarder means that usually once a year my family would take a trip into the states to pick up various American goods. As a kid I loved the idea of cookie crisp, as I grew older it lost it's appeal.
Finds:
Shadow Hearts PS2 - $5 (as a gift for my brother in law)
Ogre Battle SNES - $19.50
Tactic's Ogre GBA - $13
Breath of Fire GBA CIB - $13
I didn't find anything up till Friday so here's what I got since then.
strategy guides for the Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles, Assassin's Creed and Okami from a local thrift store for 30 cents each.
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony premium edition for $40 from gamestop. I've wanted to play this game for a very long time and so far it has not disapointed me.
all this is from a flea market I went to on Saturday.
Space Channel 5 Special Edition PS2 discs only $3
Random tub of stuff $15 Inside the tub was a super multitap and 1 official controller for SNES, 3 official NES controllers, two zappers (1 grey and 1 orange) and 7 NES games (all common but I didn't have any of them)and working PS1 with some Need for Speed game that didn't work.
considering how the week started I think I did pretty well.
Bookman's:
The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2 - $15
Gradius III & IV - $10
GameShark SP - $5

Wow..Been a while since I been on the DP boards..But I back! Varying up my collection for a change. One of the Play n Trades were having a PS2/Original Xbox blowout day..All used PS2/Xbox games were $2. So with credit and 53 cents, I snagged:
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (PS2)
Suikoden IV (PS2)
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus (PS2)
Final Fantasy X (PS2)
Shadow Hearts: From The New World (PS2)
Pirates! (Xbox)
And for an extra $2, I also snagged another Final Fantasy VII Greatest Hits..The price was right. Make good trade fodder.
Oh yes.
Was pleasantly surprised to see what is still inside the import Nights case. I left you that copy of Deadly Towers, though.
Too many lame sports games in the NES -> N64 section. At least they had more SNES to pick from than my store does. I'll be going back real soon, I found out the guy buys PC games and wow do I have a lot of those I wanna sell.
So I bought a couple PAL Playstation games last month, but the store didn't have a British console to play them on. Today I went to their sister store and whattayaknow, there's the PAL console! It comes with a SCART plug (which does me no good over here) and a mystery power supply that obviously didn't belong. It's also got a memory card and a copy of Madden 99 inside it. It ended up costing $25.99. A bit high for a PS1, but considering it's an import and I'd imagine pretty difficult to find in the wild, I'd say it's not too bad of a price.
I picked up a bare Flashback 2 console for $1.99 and an Excalibur bowling LCD game, boxed, for $2.99. The most interesting thing I ended up getting was the Philips Pronto universal remote, a touch-screen device that can be programmed and looks to have a very PDA-style interface and programmability. It looks to be a few years old, but that's fine with me, considering that most of my electronics are the same vintage. That was $10.29.
Got my new Cobalt Flux in the mail today. My old one is almost 7 years old and completely falling apart. Thought about tracking down a used Blueshark decided to go with durability instead of the arcade feel.
I'm kinda pissed that they packed the arcade mod kit seperatly and didn't install it for me, but it's not a big deal. It'll just be nice to finally be playing doubles after all these years.
Picked up a disc only Luigi's Mansion, as well as Man Bites Dog Criterion DVD.
