Default questions about Buying AV cable for genesis model 1 and 2

are these the cable I'll need?

Model 2: (will this one also work with the 32x??)

    Model 1:

Will the PQ be noticeable better than the RF connection?

for some reason right now, when I play on my model 2 the PQ is fine, but when I plug in the 32x and play thru that, you can notice that the quality degrades, is my 32x pretty much done for?

I heard RCA A/V cables do NOT enhance the PQ that much, which is why I havent got any. Though you finally could hook up your Genny to these new-fangled TVs.

The model 1 cable is all you need for that model, yes. It also works on SMS.

Don't know about the later models.

Yes. An NES RF cable will work. I know this becasue that is how I have mine rigged up.

I don't know if it is me who likes to open things and solder here and there or that I am too cheap to pay for cables, as my last 3 post said in other threads mod your machine to work with RCA buds and forget brand cables, also before plugging anything to a machine always check the polarity and volts that your wallwart can handle, also the machine haves the polarity on a label or sticker.

Something I've noticed, which isn't mentioned often in Genny threads or forums, is that the picture quality vastly differs from cable to cable.
I have two of 'em, and the "rainbow effect" on one of them is much less pronounced than the other. One of them is stereo and the other is mono, so maybe grounding issues are the cause. I can't remember for sure which is the bad one, but I believe the mono one gives a superior picture.

It doesn't matter much to me since I only use composite video with 32X games, since my Genny is (sloppily) S-Video modded. Oh, and both of the cables are Model 2 ones being used with a Model 1 Genny via the Model1-to-Model2 A/V adaptor cable that comes with the 32X; the one that goes in between a Model 1 Genny and the 32X.

That's not from cable to cable. That's the Genesis itself. Read:

You can, however, use a Turbografx 16 AC adapter for a model 1 Genesis if you happen to have one laying around...

Actually I recently bought an AV cable for my MegaDrive 2 (the European Genesis, same cables can be used) and even though the overal picture quality is sharper, I'm not happy with the cable. Theres horizontal lines on the bottom often, sometimes the screen goes black and later comes back. That never happened with my RF cable and I know the output on my MegaDrive is perfectly clean so i thought it was just the cable. But then when i posted this on another forum I found out a looooot of people had this problem

I believe I posted in that thread somewhere
But my experience was with the same Genesis. I did an A/B test and one of the cables definitely had inferior picture quality than the other.
