Default Repairing a NES 72 pin connector

I am wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what the best way to clean/repair my 72 pin connector in my NES. I am sure this has been discussed somewhere but I'm having trouble finding it. Thank you in advance!

the official cleaning kit is good for cleaning into the hard-to-reach pins, otherwise you will probably want to wrap an alcohol-dampened cloth around a credit card and insert/remove a few times. bend the pins back into shape with needle nose pliers or something pointy

Thanks for the help guys!! The credit card trick worked great! Not sure why I didn't think of that.

I usually just replace them with new ones. Seems to work well (especially when the new one breaks in). I've tried to use a pick to bend the pins back up, but I find it very difficult, that must be the smallest screwdriver/pick in that picture to fit in there and do that. Maybe I should give that another go on the NES I just was handed over. I recently washed the motherboard and the 72 pin in the dishwasher, and it seems to help with loading games A LOT, but the pins are still sloppy.

I've actually thought about doing that. Hope your detergent doesn't have bleach in it x_x
    But it does work?

I don't know if it has bleach in it, I would assume not. I just used one of those Cascade Complete pellets. That was the first time I ever tried it myself.

I did not use the oven to dry it though, I just let it drip dry by hanging it up in the closet on a coat hanger for about an hour, then I used a hair dryer on it, concentrating on the areas that water may have accumulated.
After that I let it sit for a good day before powering it up again.

Hell, I even tossed the top half and bottom half into the dishwasher as well.

I pulled it all out before the heated dryer kicked in. I didn't want the dishwasher to melting anything.
