Damn, there's a lot I didn't notice. Okay, that controller is wack. I can't even change the locations of the buttons in my SFC controllers, IIRC. At least new controllers aren't so hard to come by...

I kinda have mixed feelings. I don't have an SNES 2, but I do have a regular SNES, a Super Famicom, and a Super Famicom Jr. (which cost me 7000 yen, or about $70 at the time, and that's with no hookups or accessories; it's much rarer than an SNES 2).

The SNES is obviously the ugliest of these, but it has basically the same functionality as the regular SFC (though I prefer the all-convex buttons, the eject button, and the reset button of the SFC), which is good, plus you can perform the virtually invisible mod to an SNES to play SFC games (something the reverse of which you'd have to be nuts to do to a SFC).

The SNES 2 and SFC Jr. have the size advantage at the cost of S-video, the LED, and the eject button (not to mention RF, but meh). I haven't really noticed a difference in the quality of composite between my SFC and my SFC Jr. (maybe this only affects SNES and SNES 2), but man, the SNES 2 looks way better on your shelf than the original North American SNES, that's for sure (I'd say it's more of a toss-up between the SFC and SFC Jr., with the former looking somehow more sleek, and the latter somehow looking more cute).

    Anyway...

Not spam. This person just wanted to let everybody know that you can mod your SNES 2 to play Sony Betamax tapes. Maybe.

I'm waiting for the person to send me more pictures of the back and underside of the system.

My SFC Jr. was also rather dirty and included a few spots of magic marker. I mainly used naphtha (Zippo lighter fluid) to clean it up. It's my dominant cleaning fluid for the outside of carts (definitely not the connectors!) too. But yeah, maybe hairspray is even better.

I tried hair spray on an NES game that I own with marker on it and it didnt work too well, I could tell the marker was coming off because the q-tip was black but it didn't work too well. what did work well was Axe, is that dangerous to use? It makes your system or game smell lol.

So you got the system? You should easily be able to tell if it's authentic now. Check the button colors and compare them with the guide on GameSX.

Also does anyone have a comparison of the sizes of the SNES 1 to SNES 2 maybe like a Youtube video or something.
I think the one on the right is the fake, due to the brightness of the circuit board that usually isn't seen in anything from before the late 90s. At least, not in my experiences.

It's real. Congrats Urzu! Here's the dead giveaway:

One on the left is real, one on the right is fake. On the fake one, the "Questions and Service" text is too far to the right. The real one is centered, like the one in your picture.

Would it be dangerous to spray Axe on it? Also is there anyway to get the Smell off of it?

If you have erasable marker (for whiteboards), trace over the permanent marker with it, then wipe clean. This works for most markers on plastic, but not all. It's the safest way I've found to remove marker. I have ruined some systems with the magic eraser and nail polish remover and other things because they are too abrasive or melt the plastic. You may need to clean it up a bit with rubbing alcohol if it doesn't all come off.

Nice! Just for fun, here's my Super Famicom Jr. in the hand of its previous owner...

    ...and today, cleaned up some:

Note that I got it with nothing but the console, and given its rarity, I thought I'd never see a real SFC Jr. controller. Well, in some sense I still never have, but it turns out the SFC Jr. and SNES 2 used EXACTLY the same controllers aside from the buttons. As further evidence, note both logos:

So all I had to do was find an SNES 2 controller on eBay (which was still a bit hard, due to the abundance of Majesco controllers and knockoffs) and swap in Super Famicom buttons. Voila!

Not sure if you're being ironic, or trolling, or what, but nope. It's the real deal, bought in Japan from a Japanese seller, with crisp lettering in authentic Nintendo fonts on the bottom sticker (Super Famicoms don't have service stickers), and the controller is a real SNS-102, though modified as stated.

The controller thing is pretty interesting. The same model was used for both SNES 2 and SFC Jr., which is odd because the original SNES controller was SNS-005, while the SFC's was SHVC-005, but presumably this is part of how Nintendo cut costs. The mouse was also the same in both regions, but it went beyond the shell and innards in that case - Japan got the ugly purple buttons as well!
