Default Ever find a video game in your Easter basket?

First of all, Happy Easter! May you all have a blessed day.

Second, in order to keep this on topic for classic gaming, have any of you ever received a video game in your Easter basket?

Obviously I'm referring to when you were a kid. I remember once receiving an Easter basket with two Game Gear games nestled with the eggs. I think they were "X-Men" and "Sonic Chaos". Ah those were the days. Video games and chocolate rabbits.

I'm pretty sure I got some chocolate rabbits with shareware DOS games as a kid. Can't remember which games though.

I also remember getting Need For Speed III/Moto Racer in a double pack around Easter when it came out too.

I remember finding F-Zero X under all the green grass in my basket one year. Now that was pretty awesome.

Haven't gotten a video game in quite a few years. I used to get a GBA, Gamecube, or N64 games though when I was younger.

Although I did get $50 this year, so I could buy games with that

Default The wife and I exchange baskets every year, and I always get games in mine

This is the Easter Basket my wife made me this year:

I haven't ripped into it yet since the other half is still sleeping, but from what I can make out it contains:

    • A HALO Special Edition XBOX 360 console
    • A HALO Special Edition XBOX console
    • HALO 3: ODST
    • HALO Legends DVD
    • A canvas HALO UNSC Messenger Bag
    • A canvas HALO wallet
    • 3 Pewter HALO pins
    • 3 HALO patches
    • A plasma Sword keychain
    • Turtles candies
    • Jelly Belly jelly beans (10 flavor box)
    • Kit Kat minis 10 pack
    • Snickers minis 10 pack
    • 2 carrot shaped bags of Reese's Pieces

I'd never gotten a Special Edition (original) XBOX before, so it was really great to finally get my hands on one for the amazing price of 'gift'! The disc tray on my old XBOX is sort of wonky, too (you have to bump the console sometimes to get it to eject), so it's extra nice to have a new one.

As a kid, no. Never. Just the standard chocolate, peeps, etc. I don't do Easter now as an adult. So no, never have. I'm just looking forward to cheap chocolate on Monday.

Sure, probably in every Easter basket from around the age of 11 or 12 (when I got back into gaming) until I stopped getting Easter baskets. And prior to that I always got some sort of normal gift in addition the usual chocolate and such. My Easter gift usually wasn't on the same level as something I'd get for Christmas or my birthday, though, so when it was a game, it was probably almost always a Game Boy game given that they were cheaper than home console games. The only game I specifically remember getting for Easter was Harvest Moon, though.

You got back into gaming at the age? You couldn't have stopped for very long, no? That's about the age a lot of my friends really started getting into gaming.

I just really noticed that line. Doesn't anyone else here still give/receive Easter Baskets as adults?

Ha, I guess it's fair turnaround then. You should maybe give her one next year though. If for no other reason it's fun to make them, and who doesn't like giving/receiving goodies. Like I said, we exchange baskets every year. I usually make her a basket with a purse from her favorite designers (Isabelle Fiore), and she always makes me a game themed one.

Here are the last few I gave to her:

    Wife's 2010 basket
    Wife's 2009 basket

And here are a few of the baskets she's given me:

    2009 Resident Evil Theme

    2008 Zelda Theme

    2007 Mario Theme

Yeah, it wasn't especially long, but I went at least 2-3 years without any gaming in my life. I really loved NES when my brother got one when I was 5, but 3 or 4 years after that he lost interest and sold it all off, much to my dismay. I didn't have any of my own systems or games until I finally saved up enough to buy my own SNES.

Hah, yeah, those are pretty extravagant baskets. I like the idea of exchanging baskets and I think I may try that in the future, but no way would I make them that expensive. :P

We never really celebrated Easter in my house when I was a kid. Sure, we would color eggs or get chocolates to eat but the we never did the whole hunting for eggs or Easter basket thing that I can remember. I certainly never remember getting presents as a kid. I never realized that people actually gave presents until I worked at Gamestop. A few years ago I was working and it was stupid busy in the store. I wondered out loud why it was so busy and my co-worker said "Everyone's buying Easter presents for their kids."

At first I was like then I was like

I turned to him and asked " So is this some sort of new religious development or something?" and he goes "Nah, I've been getting presents for Easter ever since I was a little kid" (We are roughly the same age).

I was like at that point, it literally blew my mind. Then I remembered not having that same set up when I was a kid and I was like

    "Ai Oboete Imasu Ka?"

My parents liked surprising me at easter. I got my original NES when I was 5 on Easter (and it was such a huge surprise). Then I got an N64 when I was older at easter, which was awesome.

As a kid, I'm sure I did though I can't recollect any specifics.

This Easter, I was given a Atari Flashback 2+.
