The timing of the release is weird; seems like Gears games are usually 4th quarter releases...

This was my exact thought when I heard the release date. If they aren't releasing this during the holidays then that means that Microsoft obviously has a huge game coming out during that time frame. My guess is an as-yet unannounced new Halo game. Scoop

Um....that comes out this year, not 2011. They will never release a Gears and Halo game during the same holiday season for fear that they will cut into each others sales. Gears 3 should have released holiday 2011 because Reach is releasing holiday 2010. But it's not so that means Microsoft has something else planned for holiday 2011 and it's got to be big if they would move Gears 3 out of that selling period.
