"Impractical" is a vast understatement. For Kirby Tilt and Tumble, you not only have to hold the the Gamecube and tilt it, but due to its orientation, flip it 180 degrees so the wires are facing you. Don't forget to pick up the controller when you want to press buttons, and jerk the Gamecube up when you want to jump.
BTW, the GBA video cartridges are completely incompatible, since Nintendo didn't want people recording the stuff playing on the TV.
Compatibility is perfect, except for games that use an add-on that Wii cannot fit. If a game uses the broadband adapter, you cannot go online. If it uses the microphone or Game Boy Player, you're good.
I think that the physical shape of some 3rd party Gamecube stuff makes it a bad fit. Someone on another forum mentioned having to literally wedge 3rd-party memory cards out with a knife. Have you tried it on a Gamecube?
Also, I think that other than the motion sensing titles for Game Boy Color, there is one game that doesn't work with the Game Boy Player. I might be wrong though.

I could never part with that little purple box. Can't remember the last time I put a disc in, but still.

The point was that technically, they still play. And I stated it was impractical in my initial post, so I don't understand why it's been veered away from my question. Do you have a list of the approximately 30 games that you said don't work in a Game Boy Player? I'd love to see the list since there doesn't seem to be one anywhere else.

By incompatible I was obviously referring to these cartridges with built-in features. You call it impractical because they can technically boot up, I call it incompatible because the controller itself is not gonna vibrate while playing these built-in-rumble games - unlike if they were being played on a gameboy. Missing feature = not fully compatible.
The lack of controller rumble in a game doesn't make it unplayable, but thanks for explaining your statement.
To me, being compatible means the game operates like the developers intended.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Wii allow you to play any GC game in 480p, regardless of whether progressive scan was supported on GC or not?

I prefer playing GC titles on a GC rather than a Wii, because I find that the controls tend to lag on the Wii. For instance, in 007: Nightfire, I always set up the multiplayer matches in a very specific way. One the GC, I can use the D-pad and quickly select everything I want; on the Wii, I find that it takes longer and the input doesn't always register properly. It's barely perceptible, but it irritates me.
I don't think there is any input lag on the Wii.
If you are experiencing lag, it's probably because of your monitor.
