    Default Top Loader/Game Genie

Does the Game Genie work on Top Loader NES's?? I found a couple of websites that said it was difficult, but I also found some that it would not at all? Can anyone shed some light on this for me?? Thanks in advance....!!

I've never tried using a game genie in my top loader but I heard it will work if you can get it to fit. However, It comes to mind there may be multiple versions of the top loader or game genie and some combinations may not work. Someone else will be more knowledgeable about it.

It works, but you may want to track down the top-loader adapter. It looks kind of like the Game Genie part (without the big plastic V), it's black, and you attach it to your Game Genie. Without it, you could end up breaking your top-loader, Game Genie, or both trying to jam it into the cartridge slot.

They can be kind of pricey, though. I've seen them as cheap as $20 and as high as $80-90.

When I got my first toploader I jammed the game genie in there and it worked, but I had to put my foot on the system to get the leverage to pull it back out. I'd say it's risky unless you get the adapter. while it didn't break it, one time we had a blackout and I couldn't see. I tripped over the cord and the system fell on the floor. when this happened, one of the connector pins inside the system came loose. while it still worked, I had to put games in the correct a angle (much like you have to do with all Intellivision systems).

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

It doesn't fit correctly in the toploader without the adapter, which is a bit difficult to find. I paid $45 for a boxed one here last year, but I don't see 'em show up too often.

Also, it's quite a sight to have the GG + adapter + full-size NES cart sticking straight up in the air.
