Default PLEASE Help me find the name of this late 80's/early 90's Arcade Beat Em Up!!! PLEASE

    Hello All!

This is my first post...I hope this forum can help me find the name of a game that was such a special part of my childhood and have been trying to find out what is what called for YEARS!!

This is was I recall of the game...

It was a Double Dragon/Final Fight style beat em up...BUT...It was played in like a 3-D effect...you are playing with your character's back is to you, he is always walking forward, like the second stage of the Nintendo's version of Contra.

Certain things I recall about the game are this....the first board you are walking in a town, you can hit firehydrens for power I think...the end boss you fight in a area that was blocked in with a wooden gate..? He was like some kind of bubble guy, he would throw these bubbles ect...

The guys are always walking forward...

It was two players...you could play two at a time....

One board has you walking on a bridge, the whole board is you walk through this Temple of Doom style bridge...

After you beat the game, they show you a whole map of all the levels....

PLEASE...can ANYONE tell me what this game was called?

It wasn't Capcom's Avengers, was it? The listing of it at the Killer List of Video Games doesn't have any screenshots of it in action, but hopefully you can jog your memory with what's there.

I believe this game was also included on Capcom's two game collections on the Xbox.

EDIT: Here's a screenshot on the wikipedia entry.

I am sure these aren't correct, but this reminds me a little of parts of Beast Busters (SNK), of Dynamite Duke (no forward scrolling though), and maybe Crossed Swords. I will have to have a look around, it sounds pretty interesting.

Also kind of sounds like Leland's Brute Force, though I doubt that's it, but when you beat a stage some guys say alright and bust a move (seems like a corny game with speech and all being kinda corny as well).

Crossed Swords was the first thing that popped in my mind but the description of graphics sounds more like GI Joe...the description of the levels however do not.

The thing about Dynamite Duke / GI Joe / Devastators (I own versions of all three, no Dynamite Duke PCB yet unfortunately) is they all use guns to an extent.

Duke can fight with his fists a bit but you need to pick up ammo to do a lot of stuff. He does have that charge punch attack though, used on a lot of bosses as well. Of course, another reason I didn't think it fits is that it's sidescrolling, though there is a good sense of depth.

Whatever it is, I assume it's gotta be listed here:

Super Spy isn't anything like the description, aside from the whole screen effect scrolling bits. Can't see the character's back, etc.

I think Dynamite Duke is most likely.
