Default NES Box Art Across the Regions — 140+ Games

I've done numerous box art comparisons for numerous 8/16-bit consoles. This time, I took a rather different approach. It's quite simple, tedious, and loading-intensive. Basically, make one giant page that compares box art for some of the greatest NES games. It's a work in progress, but so far I'm a little north of 140 games. Here's the link:

    http://timewarpgamer.com/features/bo...aster_nes.html

I look forward to your comments and opinions. No commentary from me this time. Just a crap-ton of box scans. Enjoy!

Wow, very nice! I never knew ninjas weren't allowed to wear masks in Europe.

    Nice work!

I always enjoy seeing differences in games whether it is in game play or box art.

One thing I didn't know (and I don't know why I didn't know it) is that Contra was call Gryzor and Probotecor in the European regions.

Good question, maybe when I have time at a later date I'll see what I can do to cram in the FDS art work.

Very cool. I didn't realize how similar most US/euro boxes are to each other. The one I wish we got was Megaman 3. The euro box is pretty cool on that one. Great job! Surprising how many great games euro got and we didn't. ex: Over Horizon, Mr. Gimmick, Ufouria

Mega Man 3 remains one of my favorite pieces of NES box art ever, as you can probably tell from this feature:

    http://timewarpgamer.com/features/bo...arity_nes.html

When you got to some of those end-of-the-era NES releases, I guess the fact that Europe was behind the US in terms of consoles and games actually became an advantage (for European gamers), ensuring that some of the later games released outside of Japan found a market still interested in the NES.

No kidding! Must be the game that has the best unique piece of art for every region!

I love how you could also archive Klax next to 2001 and 2010 on the movie shelf and tell your blond girlfriend it's part 3.

Just an FYI, the PAL and US box arts for Gargoyle's Quest II are switched. Nice compilation of pics.
