SMS what's it worth?

I been eyeing a sms complete with two controllers, the gun, power cable, system, with like 10 - 15 games and there asking $200.00 is it worth this much?. Everything looked in good condition but I' m not sure if its working because its packaged(not in the original box but like a shirk wrap)

Depends on the games...leaning towards "hell no" though. That said, I've never found a SMS in the wild so I would be amazed.

Its in one of those "best used goods" stores that price things too high like they have sports games for the nes at $9.50 each so I be thinking about talking to them to bring down the price since its been there for two mouths now so hopefully there just trying to get rid of it.

That price is WAY too high. Depending on the games, its a $50 to $75 lot. Maybe $100 if the games are pretty rare but my guess is they're probably a lot of common games.

It depends very, very highly on WHICH games. Something tells me that the high price is the reason you found it. It'd be gone if it weren't for that ridiculous price.

Moreso, if US Sonic, Buster Douglas or Phantasy Star aren't part of the lot, you'd likely need most of the titles in the US library worth $10+ to make this lot worth $200.

Also depends if it is a model 1 or 2. The model 2 seems to go for a higher cost, but even then $200 seems to be a bit much. Try haggling with them, its probably been sitting there for awhile and probably not too many people ask about it. Good luck though.

That sounds like a total rip-off to me. It sounds like the owner of the shop thinks that since it's old and sort of slightly obscure, it's obviously worth a ton of money. And seeing it sit there year after year collecting dust won't convince him that he's incorrect.

When you said "complete" I almost said it might be worth it, but sounds like not COMPLETE IN BOX, so I'd say no, probably not worth that much. I wouldn't suggest paying more than $50 for the console, and probably quite a bit less ($30 is the most I'd pay for one, but it comes down to how much you want it, whether you can't order online or you can, etc). Are the games CIB? Are they all commons? There really aren't too many expensive SMS titles out there, so probably not worth that much. (I'll add Moonwalker along w/ some of the later TechToy releases as being worth money, specifically Duke Nukem.)

Where about in Ontario are you? I see bundles of Sega Master Systems on the local craigslist similar to the one you're describing only they're much cheaper than that asking price. I still think the prices suck though for what games are included.

Isn't the japanese master system the one to get? I keep hearing the American one has sound problems compared to japan.

I live in Brampton(GTA) and I have see some good deals on kijiji and craigslist but most of them are pretty far from me.
