Default PowerBase Converter not playing a few games.

All right so I packed up my CDX and my Master System, and got out my original MegaDrive I got for Christmas 1990. Got out my PowerBase that I bought a few years ago for the sake of SMS obviously.

Unfortunately, three of my games will not boot. Shinobi, Miracle Warriors, and AfterBurner. Well, Miracle Warriors booted, but then crashed immediately. Shinobi and AfterBurner just gave me black screens. I know these should be working, as they work on my SMS itself, and I've played them on my PowerBase Converter before as well.

Is this a case of my PowerBase's capacitor's going bad, or could it be something else?

Well you can always try cleaning the game's and the PowerBase Convertor's connectors with rubbing alcohol and a cue tips to see if that may help. Also make sure the PowerBase is firmly pressed into the Genesis, heck even clean the Genesis cart slot contacts to ensure every single pin is connecting. Hope this helps somehow.

Yeah I've heard about the capacitors going bad in them, but I don't know what the symptoms are.

There's something on Wikipedia about some problems:

"The power base converter had inferior capacitors however, meaning that after a few years use, the system may suffer from glitchy play, to rectify this the user must remove the capacitors from the board or replace them."

The source for this sentence has a dead link, so I don't know how reliable the statement is.
