Default Wanted: Someone to bid on an item from Yahoo Auctions Japan

I'm in need of someone to bid on an item from Yahoo Auctions Japan and then ship it to me in the States. I can pay via PayPal, so that's no problem.

Can a fellow Digitpress member help me out here?

I didn't think of asking about this. It could be a nice way to get long out-of-print anime collectibles.

You could try a proxy service. They aren't bad, but they too have to make money so it costs a bit to use it.

Unfortunately, it's not always the cheapest or most practical way of collecting Japanese items which is why many people over here don't use it all that frequently. Remember, you also have to pay shipping from the seller to the proxy in Japan and again from the proxy to the United States which can be fairly pricey. In addition, there are often bank fees involved which adds to the price. Most importantly, there are now lots of Japanese collectors and generally, the stuff that is harder to get over here is just as hard to get and expensive over there.

I would recommend using a proxy service like Rinkya.com which I have had great experiences with. Having said that, buying low price items on Yahoo.JP auctions is usually not a good investment of time or money unless the item is so much cheaper than other sources that it covers the double shipping and bank fees.

Yeah, that makes sense. Might be easier to learn the language first. I just figured I'd throw in my two cents than make another topic.

Its not so much a language thing as a locale thing, most yahoo jp auctions will not ship to the us, so you have no choice but to find a local friend, or third party service to do it for you.
