    Default Damaged Super Metroid rom.

Ok, standard practice for me when I get cart with a battery is to replace it and clean the contacts of the cart.

Well I got a copy of Super Metroid and it was kind of a pain in the ass to get the old solder flowing on the battery, but I finally got it and replaced the battery with a new one.

Where it gets interesting is when try to play it, two very odd things happen. It boots just fine, you select a new game, and in the options all the button controls have been mapped to the "X" button... well no big deal just select default controller settings and everything goes normal. Now here is where it gets unplayable, the game starts and goes through 1-2 minute opening introduction and 3 seconds after Samus zones into the world, instant death and it takes you to the continue screen, only to continue and die again in loop of continues and deaths.

I have tried everything thing I can think of in game to get past this and 3 different SNESs, 2 Model 1s and 1 Model 2, I have also changed the battery back to the original with no luck.

I am not too worried if this can't be fixed. I just want to know what happened and how I can prevent it from happening again in the future.

Maybe pull the battery again and wait awhile longer?

Clear all the save files. Super Metroid defaults to "Energy 00 Time 0:00" save files when the battery is dead.

If a file is clear it should read "NO DATA" instead of "Energy 00 Time 0:00"

Thank you very much, this fixed the problem, I would have never thought to do this.
