    Default Atari 1200XL keyboard problems

Does anyone have experience fixing these keyboards? Some buttons work fine, others work only when pressed really hard, and others don't work at all. I've taken everything apart and I can see nothing obviously wrong. I'm usually pretty good with fixing my own stuff, but this has me confused. It has been in storage for the last 20 years or so. Everything else about the system seems to work fine. I know that Best Electronics sells them, but I'd prefer not to go that route if at all possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a site that explains how to fix the problems.

You should also look for breaks in the traces on the plastic sheet. Use a magnifying glass to look for any obvious worn spots or breaks. You should also test the traces with a conductivity tester. I've had good success fixing breaks by simply scotch taping a wire across breaks but you could probally also use the conductive paint they mention on the site. For close traces, I've put a piece of scotch tape along either side just so didn't accidently short any together. Then tape down the wire or use the conductive paint.

    UPDATE:
I followed the instructions on the link and it works great now. I also found 2 broken traces on the plastic sheet. Thanks again for the help!
