Default SNES Game Black Levels Off

So I have a copy of Earthbound and FFIII(u) that seem to have an interesting issue. When the title screens come up they are gray, not black, and have a little line going through the entire screen vertically. Does anyone know what causes this? It's not a huge issue, but I'd like to figure out how to fix it if at all possible. I remember reading something a long time ago that suggested the pins had been polished with a machine or something, but I can't remember the details. All of my other games post pure black title screen backgrounds (when they have them that is) so I know it's not the SNES.

Are you using S-video on an LCD TV?

Nope. I have the older systems hooked up to a flat screen Sony CRT tv. It's hooked up with RGB cables.

RGB cables on an SNES? I didn't think SNES outputted RGB natively.

I'm curious to see how the SNES is hooked up using RGB

The SNES does output RGB natively through the multiout port. Maybe you're thinking about the N64.

izarate: Yes, that is exactly what I mean. I've read the other thread that you linked and the reason I don't feel like it's my SNES is because on every game BUT those, everything is perfect. Zelda, Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Mana, etc.

To everyone wondering about RGB, I'm using the adaptor that came with my N64 with my SNES.

Well I just ran upstairs to check. It's actually currently hooked up with composite. I have an RGB cable that I purchased 3rd party a few years ago to use with one of my HDTV's. Sorry for the confusion.
