Default Original Xbox Wifi Network Adapter MN740 AC Adapter question

    Hey guys,

I have question about the original Xbox Wifi adapter. I bought one the other day for $7 bucks (like new in box), but it did not include the AC adapter. I googled around, and have found the original specs of the adapter to be:

    (DC) 6V, 1.0A

Does anyone out there have one of these adapter on hand, and can you check the polarity on it for me? I would greatly appreciate it!

Also, I bought a replacement adapter for $1... but the specs aren't an exact match..

the specs on the replacement are: (DC) 5V, 1.0A.

Can anyone give me a firm answer as to weather this adapter would be compatible with my Network Adapter? Would the 1 less Volt destroy my unit? I would really like to know.. as I haven't tried it out yet without hearing anyone's suggestions first.

here's the Network adapter I'm talking about.

thanks so much for your time guys!

    Get a 6 volt. 5v won't do.
Also, make sure it says (-)-----[o----(+)
    negative (outer) & positive (inner)

    Side Note:
You can find these network adapters cheap now that there's no more xbox live for the original xbox. They also don't work with wireless N routers.

If anyone knows of a firmware update that allows it to work with N, please let me know. Thanks.

Huh, I did not know that xbox 1 had a wireless network adapter for it. I just run a cable from my PC to the xbox so I can play it online with wireless internet.

I have that adapter..it's just a standard wireless bridge. It works for pretty much anything (PS2, PC etc) but it will not work with newer encryption standards. The only way you can run it on a wireless N network, is if you run unsecured.

Samurai... I owe you one! I love when people actually prove me wrong... There are some great people left in this world.

    Thanks again!

P.S.. will it not work with a wireless N router at all? Or can i atleast use the lowest standard of "WEP" security?

Try! It didn't work with mine, but might work with yours.
For me, it could see the network, but couldn't connect.
    I have a D-Link DIR-615
