Default Is the Atari Lynx "On" button supposed to be low

I've noticed that all three Atari Lynx systems I have laying around all have "On" buttons that are lower (more depressed) than the other five rectangular buttons. Was this part of the original design, or is this the result of people pressing the most commonly used button? If it is a result of wear, is there any way to raise the button back up?

By the way, I'm talking about the Model 2.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be that way, so you don't accidentally shut the console off.

That would be correct. It's a bit hard to tell, but looking closely at this catalog page, it looks like the button is pushed in compared to the others.

But the atari lynx cant be turned off using the on button (I just tried) because for some reason they decided to make an off button...

But to answer your question, yes the on button is supposed to be depressed but I don't understand why the off button isn't.

Oh your right. Maybe it's so you don't accidentally turn it on and run the batteries down. Like if it's in a soft case and you didn't realize you pressed the button(and left a game in it).

Yea that's probably the reason. Seems to be a backwards mentality to me.

That all makes sense guys. Thank you for you help.

That button is still annoying though, because when I go to turn it on, there's no give to it, so it just feels broken. Maybe they should have just had an on/off switch. I think they were going for a "cool" look with lots of sophisticated buttons.
