    Default Lightgun on 100hz/lcd/hd/etc

I know that 99% of all lightguns will not work on a 100hz/plasma/lcd/hd ready/full hd tv. But, I have a question about the 100hz tv's.

I heard that it's possible to change the 100hz setting to 60 or 50hz on a tv. If so, would my lightgun work on that tv? This might be a dumb question, sorry, but I need some confirmation. Thanks :-)

No, the light guns work from the particular light emitted by a CRT, so short of some sort of fantastic spectrum converter lens, we're all forced to keep at least 1 tube TV in order to play Hogan's Alley...

...somebody please invent that lens. Will pay 2k monies.

Most light guns work by detecting the electron beam that scans the screen. LCD and plasma sets do not work on this principal so it's a no go for them.

I have wondered if it would be possible to make a video pass though that would add a "virtual scanline" to the video signal to trick the lightgun and the console into working, but I havn't really really given it much more thought than that.

Okay, thanks for the information. Now I'm sure those lightguns will not work on the modern flat tv's. But, what about the 100hz tv's? Absolutely not possible?

Me? No. Do you mean 100Hz? Still no. I'm not sure how I implied that either way.

JB -- Sorry, I was responding to this post using yours as a reference. Also I did mean 100hz.
