Default Restarting your collection 5 years later...

Just want to share some memories with you since this forum gave me back the sacred fire for collecting video game after selling everything about 5 years ago. Anyway those are the best topic...
(BTW sorry for my english im from quebec canada)

So in 2001 when i was in high-school ive started buying tons of game with my limited budget + i had no internet at home + at the time no car and there was about 4-5 store in town that were selling used video game. So i was quite hard to find great deal.
At the peak of my first collection i had around 800 games and i had spend at least 10k to get there...

    i looked like this:

so ive collected games from 2001 to 2005 and then i decided to start my own compagny and i needed cash for tools and car so you know the rest...
i decided to keep around 50 games + 2-3 systems (ps2,xbox,nes) and sold the rest.

from 2005 to 2009 i had little time to even play so i never bought another game during this time except maybe ff12...

so last year around september i was messing around on the net and i found Digitpress. Almost immediatly i had an urge to start all over again.
I must sincerely thanks all members who provide great info on collecting since its so much easier for me to collect this time.

By example in less than 10-11 months i have already 800 games and 15+ consoles. Since ive used every tricks in the book that ive learned here i would say ive not spend more than 2k to get all that stuff.

So im pretty happy with my new collection since i feel its already almost better than my original (and it will be much better in only a few more months)
and it cost me only 1/5 the price

so here is my room of doom part 2 its not much but its only the beggining,
let me know what you think since im pretty pround of what ive achived in less than a year!
And look foward for a futur super collector!

Nice collection, you've got good taste in games and a good eye on how to display them. Gotta ask tho, why 3 copies of NHL 95?

I hope you didn't spend more than $2k on that, you got a ton of Xbox and PS2 games which are pretty cheap compared to NES / SNES CIBs in general.

Nice looking display though, I can tell you enjoy modern gaming more than the oldies.

    thanks for your comments
i will definetly look for that site thanks! (quebec colectors)
the reason i have 3 nhl 95 is only because ive buy a few lot of genesis game and it seems this game was everywhere.

Also i would definetly like to have more retro stuff but it seems quite hard to find good deal around here on that stuff so thats why for now i have xbox,ps2 games all over the place...

i was in the same situation, traded my whole collection years ago for a way too big mixer for my band. since then i picked back up the essentials- PS2, xbox360, sega genesis, NES, atari 2600, a couple tabletops and a few hundred essential games. between that and my emulators i can sleep soundly again.

I like the Initial D die cast. I was too po' to buy the large scale ones when they came out so I only have the Matchbox sized ones. And now I can't find them.

Good start, but pace yourself. Make sure you enjoy waht you got, something I have failed to do. I have more games that I haven't even powered up than those that I have. I have a Virtual Boy with a complete US library of games and have never turned the system on...

Also, I did not see a copy of the Digital Press Collector's guides in any of those pictures...

    Default Just a few thoughts...

You may want to consider setting your shelves a little closer together on your main unit. The dead space above each row of media might add up to another shelf of usable space if you do. If aesthetics are concern, you might want to consider putting spacers behind the media to move it more to the front of the cabinet (just wooden planks will do) -- the cabinet is very deep after all. I suppose it's not a huge deal, but I like uniformity and hate to see dead space. Simple books ends are also your friend if you want to keep things from looking too jumbled. Also, you're cabinet with the consoles on it is sort of a hot mess. I have a peeve about consoles and controllers stacked on top of consoles (everything just gets scuffs up), but again, I don't think that most people care about that, so no biggie I guess.

It may be worth you time to get a CRT with A/V jacks in the front if quick hook ups are a concern, as you mentioned. They're a dime a dozen now, so it wouldn't put you out much.
