Default So I may be getting a TurboGrafx 16...

My friend has a TurboGrafx laying around that she might consider giving me, and I want to know which games I should hunt down for it.

Splatterhouse, Blazing Lazers, New Adventure Island, Ninja Spirit, Bomberman, Legendary Axe and the Bonk games to name a few. New Adventure Island will cost you a bit and Bonk 3 is really expensive(the first 2 you can get for pretty cheap though). You'll definitely have fun with the TurboGrafx, lot of amazingly fun games for the system.

I know some of these have already been mentioned, but they all definitely get my vote:

    Aero Blasters
    Air Zonk
    Blazing Lazers
    Bonk's Adventure, Bonks Revenge
    Dragon Spirit
    Neutopia 1 & 2
    New Adventure Island
    Ninja Spirit
Parasol Stars (if you like Bubble Bobble, you'll like this)
    ShockMan
    Side Arms
    Splatterhouse
World Class Baseball (I like it, anyway, and it's dirt-cheap)

Those are some of my favorites, and they're all more or less reasonably priced; some like Air Zonk and Neutopia 2 will run you a little more, but they're worth every penny.

First of all, definitely take your friend up on their offer of TurboGrafx. Even if you stick within the US library of games alone there's a lot on offer. Some unmentioned-by-others personal favourtes:

Alien Crush ... not as good as Devil's Crush (the TG16's best game, in my opinion), but still worthy video pinball with some slick, creepy graphics.
Double Dungeons ... this is some streamlined, no-nonsense dungeon crawling, and while it's quite plain, there are a ton of quests and if nothing else the difficulty of pathfinding tests your memory in a fierce way.
Dungeon Explorer ... cut from the Gauntlet cloth but with more diverse character classes and considerably greater depth.
Galaga '90 ... Galaga made better.
Legendary Axe II ... more fun than its predecessor, I feel, and the soundtrack is fantastic.
    R-Type ... an awesome port of R-Type.
Somer Assault ... a highly unique sort of shmup/platformer.
Space Harrier ... a smooth, speedy port, and it makes good use of the turbo buttons.
Vigilante ... Kung Fu Master meets Double Dragon, a superior version to that on the SMS.
World Court Tennis ... the solid tennis gameplay is only made better by the RPG-like Quest mode.

I've had my Turbo for a few years now, but I still only have one game, Keith Courage. Where do you people buy your TG games? I rarely see them in any stores, and when I do they're the same prices I see on eBay, namely $20 minimum, no matter what it is.
I only need 2 more NES games (US)!

If you are not too much of a completist, you can find loosies on eBay for just a few bucks on some of the more common titles. I just sold JJ&Jeff on there for 99 cents plus 2 dollars shipping. Granted it's not the best game around, but you get the idea.

A good 50 percent of the collection or more can be found for 10 bucks or less loose.

The Turbografx-16 is such an awesome system. I just love how it exists in it's own world as far as games go. I own more than half of the US chip card library and these are my favorites.

    Air Zonk
    Bonk 1-3
    Chew Man Fu
    Devils Crush
    Dragons Curse
    Dungeon Explorer
    Final Lap Twin
    Galaga 90
    Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu
    Legendary Axe 1-2
    Neutopia 1-2
    Parasol Stars
    Soldier Blade
    Splatterhouse
    Time Cruise
    Veigues Tactical Gladiator

I loved this system! I reviewed a lot of TG-16 titles if you're interested.

    Blazing Lazers
    Dungeon Explorer
    Galaga 90
    Neutopia
    Ninja Spirit
    Alien Crush
    Devil Crush
    Parasole Stars
    Cadash

Most i of what i listed are the cheapy ones to get.Though if you can get a deal on those games the,TG16 market these days on ebay is out of controll lot's of price gougers.Unless you can find them in the wild at a fleamarket etc at a good price.

I've actually gotten lucky and found a few in thrift stores in the past few years. There are a few retro game stores that have some, but they usually want eBay prices. I've picked up a few at game conventions like the Oklahoma Video Game Expo for decent prices. Turbo stuff is extremely rare in my area, although luck seems to shine down upon me on occasion. One particular thrift that I've had decent luck at in the past had six in their CD racks. Jump forward about three years later, and again I find eight mixed in with music CDs. (I've also found 'internal demo' copies of Philips CD-i software in the CD racks at that thrift, including one of the Zelda games!) It's why I make sure to always look over the CD shelves at any thrift I go to, because there's a one-in-a-million chance something other than old boy band albums might be mixed in with them.

I guess I just got spoiled by my NES collection, being able to bring home stacks of carts for a few bucks a pop.
I only need 2 more NES games (US)!

    you have to get lucky.

If you are free this May, drive up to cleveland for the CCAG show (www.ccagshow.com) Theres usually turbo games for fair pricing, and a few local stores that carry them.

otherwise, PCEFX is a good place to find stuff. As long as theres no flailing around going down at the time.
