Default Help me repair my 7800

My dad sent me his nearly mint 7800 in the mail with a handful of games. (some of which are the earliest games I ever played)

This thing has sentimental value, and I really want to repair it.

It is in perfect shape, and even has the plastic covering the metal panel across the top. The only problem is that the rf hookup on the back of it is broken/missing. I am semi-confident in my meager soldering skills, but if there is a way to repair this without using a soldering iron, I would love to hear about it. It means alot to me, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well you could get it modified so you can relive nostalgic games in stunning clarity on a newer TV or even an older TV with composite/S-Video. I recommend the Longhorn Engineer, he takes great pride and care of classic consoles and gives them a new life with the modern audio/video mods. Of course if you don't want the modification,I'm willing to bet he could solder on a new RF out connector for you.

Wow,,,, as soon as I saw your 7800 repair problem I knew that it would
be a problem with damaged conections on the back. I was warned about this
almost 10 years ago by an expert collector. ( I had the 7800 box but needed
the power supply. He sold me a 7800, power pack,,, and then warned Me to be very careful with those backside conections.)

I hope You can fix your 7800 system

You might be able to get the necessary internal RF modulator from Best Electronics, but replacing it requires skill and finesse at desoldering. If I had a catalog on hand, I'd look up the part number for you, but I do not .

You could always contact the Best Electronics folks and see if they have your part. Their web address is http://www.best-electronics-ca.com. If you can get what you need, there are people on these forums that could probably do the repair for you, myself included.
