Default Atari 2600 AC Jack !!!HELP NEEDED!!!

I recently bought an Atari 2600- or rather, a Tele-Games Video Aracade, which is a carbon copy of the 2600- but it's power adapter is missing. I know the AC jack is the exact same as a headphone jack, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to take a double ended headphone cable (It looks like this: <Jack #1>-------------<Jack #2>), and cut one end off and solder the wires to a regular 9V jack. I don't care if it's pictures, text or video instructions, I just need

On an unrelated note, I'm curious whether or not the Tele-Games Video Arcade is rare or worth a lot (I don't want to sell it, I spent $25 on it and I'm hoping I didn't get ripped off). I've been having trouble finding any info about it, so I assume it is rare.

I don't have the answer to creating your own power plug, but I do know that the universal power adaptors that places like Radio Shack sell do typically have that tip and voltage on them. I've used one of those in the past with 2600 systems.

I have a Tele-Games system as well, they do pop up on ebay fairly regularly and don't seem to sell for much more than a standard 2600. Like 2600's I believe there is a 4 and 6-switch variation, so there may be some difference in value depending on that as well.

    It isn't a regular stereo headphone jack. It's a 1/8"(3.5mm) TS jack.

I second the suggestion of buying a generic power adapter, as they are inexpensive and it will come in handy in the future for other things you may purchase.

I use an inexpensive Recoton jack. It has a 6-pos switch w/ various voltages from 3v to 12v & a 2-pos switch for 100mA to 300mA. I think it cost a grand total of $10. Beats making a cable any day.

Oh, & for $25, I hope you got some accessories/games w/ it too. It's not rare, just different.

⅛ mono phono plug. DC 9volts.

Make sure at least 400 miliamps, some were rated at 600 miliamps.

This aftermarket one is 500 miliamps.

If you have a local Radio Shack go there. If not, Ebay usually has a ton and you can probably get them for around $10.

If you've got a Play N' Trade location near you, check there. Many of the locations I've been to have generic new boxed 2600 compatible power supplies for around $9.99 or so. If you've got an indie game store near you, they might have one. Other than that, try www.atariguide.com and pick one up. Better to be safe than short out your rigged adapter and burn your house down.
