    Default NES 72 Pin Replacement

I know, an often asked question:

Where is a good place to get a NES 72 Pin replacement?

I bought one from ebay years ago that did not work. It did not have that "super tension" everybody talks about in new connectors.

I really want to get my NES working so I can play Castlevania for Halloween!

I bought a couple from eBay. They were the gold plated ones. Both of them have always seem to be tight, almost too tight sometimes. They seem to work about 75% of the time, which is a hell of a lot better than the stock one did.

I took the plunge and ordered a new connector from a store on ebay with lots of positive feedback on the replacement connectors. *fingers crossed*

    Is a replacement always necessary?

I've salvaged tons of NES consoles by just opening it up, taking a needle, and bending the pins back into place...then just alcohol those suckers with a cart.

Can they really get bad enough where a replacement is needed? :O
