Do you have a link? What is it exactly? A download or physical disc?

People are excited about a barebones port of Mario Allstars? I mean you are seriously going to justify a purchase of a Wii just to play Mario Allstars?

And this sounds perfectly sane to you?

This should really be an $8 Virtual Console title if anything (you know, since it is an SNES game). A disc collection should really be every Mario game up to Mario 64.

Considering they're selling things like Super Mario 64 for $10, Super Mario World for $8, the four NES versions of the contents of Super Mario All-Stars for $21, set to sell Yoshi's Island and other classic titles as 3DS titles, etc., it's obvious why none of that would happen.

They're not about to devalue the NES versions by selling a updated release for less then half of the price the 4 NES releases would cost to purchase. And they're not about to release a comprehensive collection that includes all classic Mario content for a fraction of the total price they're recieving through individual digital downloads.

This is coming to disc because it's the only suitable means of earning money off this asset (They don't want to devalue the NES releases on the VC by selling this for $8, or more then double the price of a SuperNes release on the VC by matching or exceeding the $21 total for the NES releases) without damaging Virtual Console sales and without customers feeling cheated like a $20+ download would make them feel.

It's little more then a physical extension of the Virtual Console program.

This comes with more than just Super Mario All-Stars. It includes a DVD that has a feature about the history of Mario and a CD with songs from Mario games. Is it still worth $30? That's up to you. Will it come to America? Probably not.

On Ebay these are selling for $80 if anyone is wondering, which I now realize is odd since it isn't out yet. Play-Asia seems to be planning on selling this as well.

It probably won't come out here, which is a shame. I love Super Mario All-Stars, and have the SNES version cart only, but I also like artbooks and back stories on the games I love.

IIRC, the Metroid series is also having its 25th anniversary here soon - next year. I'd flip for Super Metroid on the DS and a 25th anniversary book.

I'd love to see Nintendo partner with a company to release some art collections in English, much like Capcom is doing with Udon (even if there are delays, like with the Ace Attorney artbook).

I have the game for SNES, Super Famicom, and the one with Super Mario World, now I want this! I'm a Mario fanatic.

Haha about the twilight joke, hope you enjoy being a smart-ass jerk, I've already explained this issue before. Can't we all just get along?

    It's confirmed for Europe.

I'd be surprised if we don't see it released here. I imagine we'll be seeing a release confirmation from NOA sometime this week.

Default Super Mario All-Stars is getting (another) NA release (this time on Wii)

I know a lot of people had been pining for this since it was released in Japan. Looks like we are getting it in NA Dec 12.

SMB3. A demake of a remake of a remake of the original. SMB1. A port of a demake of a remake of a remake of the original. SMB2. A demake of a remake of a remake of a completely different game than the original. SMB2tLL. A port of a remake(All these are based on US console releases only.) Who wouldn't want to throw $40 on a group of games that has more copies out there than any game in existance?

Yay! I'm buying the same game for the fifth time on a different console! So worth $40! Daaaay one puuurrrrrchaaaaaase!!!

I guess Nintendo is glad they can milk the same game for 25 years and people are still stupid enough to buy it again at a premium price.

It's only $30, it's actually on a disc as opposed to being a download and it includes a slip case, a soundtrack and an art booklet. Not a bad deal if you ask me, especially if you don't have your SNES or NES hooked up and still like playing any of the games.

    Kupo, it's only $30 :P

I will get it only because I have a feeling it will be become rare. Can't explain the feeling, but I agree with that the article said when comparing with Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Still, $30 is not a bad price.

I just don't get how they can not include Super Mario World in this. Or, for that matter, the Super Mario Land games. The Mega Man remakes get *all* of the Mega Man games, the Sonic remakes get a whole bunch of titles on each, the Mario remake has to be the exact same as the first version published 16 or 17 years ago, but with a soundtrack?

I mean, I guess Nintendo can do it because that's what Nintendo does, but at some point I feel like this is a total rip off.
