What did the japanese box art look like? I just picked this game up a couple weeks ago for $2. Still a good compile game.

I never really got into this game, I like Dragon Spirit better. I do agree that the North American box art is terrible for this game.
The Guardian Legend / Guardic Gaiden box art fails all across the board. I mean, you have a game with a hot chick in a space bikini who turns into a fighter ship. That is the potential for really awesome cover art, and they throw the whole concept away for a boring pair of eyes.
On the cover of Contra, the artist directly lifted Schwarzenegger's body from Predator's poster and placed Bill's head on it. Not sure about Metal Gear but I think the same thing happened. With TGL here it looks more like a different image rather than a direct lift, but still close enough that it might as well be.
