Default The Generic Music Pieces of the 32-Bit Road Rash

    Hi,

I have some thoughts about the generic music pieces used as the BGM in Road Rash (the music you hear during gameplay). Is it true that one of the BGM pieces appears to resemble this old Kansas song in places?

If you want to know the exact stage, it is the City stage. Listen to NOT for all of its seven minutes to understand why I am bringing this up, then the City stage theme.

However, some versions of the 32-bit Road Rash lack any kind of BGM during gameplay. The 3DO and Sega Saturn versions are two of 'em (correct me if I'm wrong, please).

I can certainly hear it, to an extent (though I wouldn't say the entire song is a cover of NOT). It's not unheard of for this kind of thing to happen with game composers, either; IIRC, Doom is a prime example of a soundtrack inspired by existing music.

By the way, all this talk of Road Rash lately has made me decide to play it again. Gonna get out the 3DO version and see how it's held up over the years.

Yes, the drum part had me questioning all this.

I also can find a suspicious resemblance in the City music to that of the Pretenders' 1983 "Middle of the Road," which I think sort of fits the name of the stage well, actually (if you listen to the guitar parts).
