With the "transforming" D pad? I'm torn whether to get one or wait for hopefully eventual release of the controller that Razer is supposed to be working on.
The Razer controller is going to be a $50 wired controller, FYI.

Yeah I know but the adjustible tension on the sticks and the D-Pad looks to be fairly well designed. I can live with wires if the controller is good.
I wish it tranformed into Optimus Prime. Actually the D-Pad on the new MS one twists from the regular disc to a 4 way pad looking somewhat like the Nintendo D pad. Interesting bit of design actually though I'm not sure if they actually changed anything below the pad which I've always thought was the problem with the old one.
I am looking for wired one as well. I cannot stand Wireless controller. One my Xbox360 controller wireless failed on me. I also have MS wireless mouse and that too die on me. Damn you MS.

On topic, the new one does look cool but I remember reading a while back that the "new and improved" d-pad is not much better than the stock one we all hate so much. I guess time and use will prove that right or wrong.

I don't get what is so new about this. Did they figure if they "loosened" it up more it would perform better...like 360 degrees or something? Think they kinda screwed up, it needed to be "tightened" and sectioned off, kinda like the PS3 gamepad.
Maybe it's just me, but this seems laughable and makes me wonder what is the deal here, it doesn't look how I expected, looks more loose than before which is a bad thing. Maybe i'm wrong maybe it "clicks" better or something.
The d-pad now "pops up". You'll notice the greatest benefit in games where several precise movements in sequence are required (Shoryuken!)...
The only time I used the d-pad as the main controller was with Ridge Racer 6...and that's not really enough reason to buy one IMO. I'm sure Street Fighter fans would like this. Then again...most probably have decent sticks at this point.

I think it's strange that they took the colors off the buttons considering so many use those as a visual aid.
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
I picked one up today.
It still has a few flaws, but the control feels alot more precise than the original. It still sometimes picks up diagonal movements even in 4-way mode, so twisting the plastic guard down doesn't limit movement to 4 directions. But the new D-pad is "clicky" in either mode, so that almost makes up for it.
However, I don't like the monochrome gray A,B,Y,X, buttons.
But if you're looking for a quick, precise 4-way controller for your arcade titles - this one is a decent improvement over the original, but there are still better ones out there. But if you use it for fighting games, I highly recommend it.
EDIT - Oh, and the 2 analog pads have a much better grip on your fingers than the original design.

Yeah at the store, I picked it up. But then I put it back down. I don't need it or have the money for it when my normal Xbox 360 controller and the system itself haven't gotten much use yet.
Now I am thinking that before I really get into the Xbox 360, I will go get a slim because I am afraid of losing my game saves on my barely used Elite.
Unless I'm mistaken, I believe that you can use modded Saturn controllers on the Playstation 3. They've been modified to use USB. It's too bad you can't do the same thing with the Xbox 360. I've always felt that the Saturn D-pad was one of the best D-pad's of all time. The only time I really miss a good D-pad is when I'm playing various Xbox Live Arcade Games. Stuff like N+.
