    Default Dreamcast won't read discs.

I have a DC that I got from a thrift shop for $5 with all of the accessories. The top of the console is severely yellowed similar to a SNES. It boots up and won't read a disc, if I bang on it or tap it sometimes it will read and play for a period of time but may reset. I don't think it's a power issue and I've checked both motors and they move the laser and spin the disc. I've also cleaned the lens, is there a way to calibrate the laser or adjust it to see if its out of alignment?
If they made a movie out of your top five worst sins, what would it be rated?

Have you checked the switch which is actuated by the door being closed? Both DC's I have owned had problems that were caused by this switch not catching properly.

It's not the door because the console will spin the disc, it just won't read it.

You could try cleaning the lense with a cotton bud/tissue and isopropyl alcohol,it could get a little technical after that with adjusting pots and finding replacement drives,i understand there were two makes Yamaha and Samsung.
I have just found this on another forum which confirms this http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=89925
