Default PSP: Final Fantasy IV Complete

I cant wait for this game. Its final fantasy 4 and after years, plus a whole new scenerio to tie the two games together.

    http://www.siliconera.com/2010/12/17...te-collection/

Heres some pics from siliconera.com that show the original vs new high res.

"Yes, there is another remake of Final Fantasy IV, but this is different from the Nintendo DS remake Square Enix released just two years ago. Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection packs Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, a direct sequel starring Cecil’s son Ceodore, on to one UMD with high resolution graphics."

Looks nice, but man, I already own three versions of the game (SNES, GBA, DS). Talk about flogging a dead horse.
<Evan_G> i keep my games in an inaccessable crate where i can't play them

In fairness, the inclusion of FFIV: The After Years is pretty cool. Worth the re-re-re-re-purchase IMO.

I knew holding off on the Wii versions would pay off!

The Final Fantasy Series is a very guilty culprit when it comes to sequels, spinoffs, and remakes. I think I stopped staying caught up with the release of Final Fantasy X-2 years ago. While I applaud that the PSP is still coming out with some titles, I have to say that Final Fantasy needs to go away for a couple years so that it can recharge it franschise as a whole. At some point, people are just get overwhelmed with the mass volume of releases, and underwhelmed with the quality of titles that have checkered this franschise as a whole.

I have to disagree with the underlying premise of your whole statement. You talk as if gamers are required to buy each and every Final Fantasy release. Most people buy the entries they want and skip the ones they don't. It's only possible to be "overwhelmed with the mass volume of releases" if you choose to be.

As far as being "underwhelmed with the quality" of past games in the franchise...that is definitely the minority opinion. Everyone has their personal FF dislikes, but overall Final Fantasy has been the most consistently diverse, high-quality franchise in video game history.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpZUQyHjZ_Q

Oh Great! Im sooooo excited to replay a game I already replayed before in a previous remake. Instead remaking something people want like ff 5 or 6 we are treated to another Final fantasy 4 remake Huzzah.................. (groan). I swear im going to leave a bag of burning poo on their hq doorstep someday if I take a trip to japan.

Can't check the link, but I'm guessing this is about the "Complete Collection"?

I'm actually excited for this one, as I didn't want to do DLC for The After Years content. So this actually works out nicely for me

But yeah, bring on a remake of FF6!

    Intresting! I love comparisons

Anyway I hate FF4, Square is eating crap latly and needs to work on something that's more in demand.. Say FF6, FF7, or FF8 remake? Better yet just finish versus. Yesh

Interesting, I dont know why but this reminds me of a FF interview I read years ago [in Next generation magazine I believe]. At that time the Ps2 was still new and there were rumors of FF 5-7 3d remakes brewing for the Ps2, one of the FF producers was being interviewed and he was asked outright if they would ever do multiple remakes of older games [FF 7 and older]. He flat out said no, the closest to a remake we will see from Square is direct-unaltered ports to other systems and thats it. Since doing remakes would take up man-power from their "real" job which is making new games [that is going off memory but is basically what he said].

Of course, that was years ago and here we are today staring at what is likely the 5th or 6th remake of FF IV. And there are rumors that FF 7 is "finally" going to be remade on the PS3. Times have changed for sure, but having played some of Square's recent releases [since FFX] I cant help but feel but that they did detour along the way, caving in to pressure for ports is one indicator, and their game quality isnt what it used to be.
