Default US Origin Games or Systems worth Picking up Mainly RPGs? (From the Import-Only Gamer)

First off this will thread will probably get moved, but I thought this would be the appropriate section. I only buy import games mainly and I was wondering if there was some really good game consoles or games (Preferably RPGs) worth picking up that originated State-Side, as opposed to originating from Japan and getting ported to the US.

So yeah, US Origin and then possibly ported to other countries is fine.

For example, Startropics I and II for the NES. To my knowledge these originated Stateside, but I already have these two :P

Any suggestions or highly recommended pick ups?

-- Also, Quick question regarding Japanese Game Posters. Trying to avoid making a new thread for this to avoid the spam, so I'll give it a shot here first. What would be a fair price to pay for Japanese Video Game Posters? I know this probably depends on the game, but I'll give you an example. Some of my favorites game Posters I can probably get for around 20-25$ + Shipping on US eBay, but if I look over at Yahoo-Auctions Japan I can normally find the same ones for like 1000-1500 yen. To get them from there, however, I would have to use a middleman service (normally). Am I paying too much for these? One that comes to mind is I recently picked up a Japanese Promo Poster for Grandia II for 20$ + Shipping.

Technically both StarTropics were developed in Japan, but never released there.
    (ST1 was an NA/EU release while ST2 was NA-exclusive)

The only other one that I have that comes to mind then is Zombies ate my Neighbors for the Genesis. I know this is probably a weird request but I'm hoping to get some recomendations. You can include PAL-Exclusives as well if you know of any (Although I must say I am not a fan of their archaic TV Format ). Thanks in advance.

Why are you having a hard time w/ this question? Most games that started out as PC titles are going to be the obvious answer here (Wizardry, Ultima, Might & Magic, etc). If you're looking for non-PC-first games, that would narrow things down considerably.

    Here's a few:

    The Lone Ranger (NES)
    Swords & Serpents (NES)
    Shadowrun (Genesis & SNES versions)
Warriors of the Eternal Sun (Genesis)
(The Genesis had several, but I wouldn't say they were "worth picking up")

Super James Pond 2 is a neat one I recently picked up for SFC.
I never even knew these games were ported to any Nintendo systems besides GBA. Of course the artwork is nice and colorful in the Japanese manual and on the box, always so much nicer than North American releases.

As for systems that originated in the US, I imagine the obvious examples would be the Atari Jaguar or Lynx. If I'm not mistaken, those were both released in Japan.

One very cool collectible would be the Bandia Vectrex console released in Japan.

dont waste your time trying to get posters from yja....going through a middleman will tack on at least 20 bucks (probably more) after all the fees....just ask the people you buy import games and posters from, Im sure they will help you find the posters you want.

and hi, im from New Haven. See youre from Guilford on your ebay page....my dad grew up there and I was raised in Madison.
