    Default Dead Space 2 (PS3/360)

Really looking forward to this one. Preordered the PS3 collector's edition for the swank Plasma Cutter included Honestly though, for an EA IP, I was REALLY impressed with the first one and have high hopes for this one as well. I guess the PS3 one comes with Extraction but the 360 LE doesn't. Anyone else a big Dead Space fan?

I bought the first game during Steam's holiday sales for $7 and have been thoroughly enjoying it ever since! Yeah, this game really took me by surprise too, considering that it is from EA. I'm currently a few hours into it, but I'll definitely see it all the way through. So I'm in no hurry to get to the second one, but if it goes on sale for cheap, I'll pick it up.

I was going to pick this up on preorder, but decided against it.

I will pick up the PS3 version when Amazon offers it cheaper or part of a promotional offer. If I snagged the LE of Castlevania for PS3 for $25 from $80, then yeah, I can wait.

I wasn't that impressed with the demo of this. I'm still interested in getting the first one and finishing that before I pick this one up.

I played the DS2 demo a few weeks ago and loved it. It immediately inspired me to play through the first Dead Space on Impossible difficulty and finish up the two remaining achievements that I had hanging from 2008.

The original Dead Space was a better spiritual successor to Resident Evil 4 than RE5 was. Seriously. Everything about the game was a win.

    Can't wait for Tuesday.

I've played through half of it so far. How do I know I'm half-way? I just switched to DISK TWO! That's right...the 360 version has 2 discs. Ugh. Not really a huge deal, but c'mon. This isn't the PS/Saturn generation anymore.

The gameplay is very similar to the first entry...which means it's excellent. Bonus: No upside down confusion when traversing the zero-G areas. In fact, there's no jumping in zero-G at all. Dead Space 2 got rid of the whole mess. Now you have little rockets propelling you in space. Much better and so much easier to control. There's even a forward thrust move, similar to God of War's underwater "fast" swimming.

    Anyway, excellent game so far.

I agree with heybtbm with the zero-g, much better control and no pinpointing a launch pad.

I am enjoying every aspect of this game, the fact that they added real environments to it instead of just the bland interior of a space ship is a plus. I did not find the first Dead Space to be scary but this one has my skin crawling a bit and I have jumped a few times.

Anyone else INCREDIBLY disappointed with Dead Space 2? I got the PS3 version and it's BUGGY AS HELL! Every 5-10 minutes I find an area that I'm supposed to get swarmed but...nothing happens. I stand there for like 5 minutes....and then the doors unlock. It's totally ruining the stress and ambiance of the game.

From what I can find online, not many people are having this issue, but those that are can't seem to solve it at all. It's really pissing me off cause I LOVE the game...but hate having it ruined this way....

I tried to post on EA's forums but I can't seem to get it to log on there for some reason...so I can't even contact them about it!! Grrrrrrrrr

    Edit:

I talked to EA's online rep....here's what she said:

Emily: At the moment we do not have encountered with much contacts facing the same issue as of yours.

I finally got onto EA's Dead Space forums. I posted this there:

I've started playing Dead Space 2 on the PS3. I bought the Limited Edition (not sure if that matters) but have not registered my online code or any DLC yet.

Starting in the Laundry area of Chapter 2, I have been having a recurring problem. When I walked into the Laundry, all the lights went out and.....nothing happened. The lights stayed out, no enemies showed up, and nothing at all happened. I just stood around for about 5 full minutes in the dark...and then the doors unlocked and I could move on. Figured it was just a weird glitch....but then in the TFT Train station, it happened again! I killed one Necromorph, and then there was nothing to do and all the doors were locked for almost 5 minutes. Then I got through the train and was stuck upside down and it happened again! I killed everyone....and hung upside down for 5 minutes before the boss creature was freed and attacked me.

It has just happened for the fouth time in the children's area of the train station? as well, where I had 4 child-necromorphs attack me, then nothing and all the doors were locked for 5 minutes. I could even hear the monsters...but nothing came out or attacked me.

The pace of the game is being totally ruined by these long completely barren pauses.

Played a little further and it's happened two more times and I haven't even finished Chapter 3 yet. Every time, I can hear the enemies that are supposed to be there, but nothing actually appears. At this point I'm thinking about restarting the game to see if that works because it's ruining it so much.

I'd love to know if anyone else is having this problem or if there's something I can do to fix it!!!
