Default One hand free.... what can you beat?

    *wink wink*

Seriously though, came up as a joke discussion with Vectorman yesterday - what games can be beaten one handed or at least played effectively?

RPGs are the obvious choice, but think about it a little bit or try it out on some of your favourites... can you do it?

Edit: I'd like to clarify a bit on what I'm asking here - I'm actually more looking for people who are willing to either boast or admit they can beat a certain game/do awesome at it with ONE hand.

Pac-Man, definitely. I honestly think it would be harder two handed.

Actually, a bunch of games that use arcade sticks can be played one handed. Especially shooters

I haven't tried to on these games, but after thinking about them, I think they're games that could be beaten with the use of only one hand.

    Heavy Rain
    Indigo Prophecy
    Evergrace
    Tobal no.1(or most fighters)
    Gran Turismo(or most racers)

Most games allow you to switch buttons, while racers it would be possible without switching buttons, if you're playing an XBOX360, PSX, PS2, or PS3, just switch the accelerate and break buttons to L2 and L1 and while it'd be more difficult than using two hands, you'd be able to do it. It'd still be doable with hitting left/right/x/square, but much harder.

Anyways. Just a short list. I probably won't attempt any of these though.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

Sorry Jorpho, I hadn't quite realized it had been done to death and was too lazy to use the search function.

    My bad!

When we were talking about it I thought I might have even already done a thread.

When I was in 5th grade, I was playing Atari 2600 games like Mario Bros. with my feet for fun. I was wearing these loose thick socks.

The original Suikoden was optimized for left handed play and I beat the entire game this way.

If I remember correctly L1 an L2 are mapped to "yes and no" \ "Select and Cancel" actions. So holding the controller in the left hand you can move your character with the D-Pad and talk to people, make decisions, selections, purchase items etc. using the L1 and L2 buttons.

I think the only time I had trouble was when I had to access the inventory screen. That is mapped to Triangle or Square or something so I would have to use my right hand to hit the button or set the controller down and move my left hand over to hit it.

But overall it worked to near perfection. After beating Suikoden I found myself wishing more RPGs would have used the one handed set up.
If a god is willing to prevent evil, but not able, then he is not omnipotent. If he is able, but not willing, then he must be malevolent. If he is both willing and able, then why is there evil? If he is neither able or willing then why call him a god?

I certainly can't finish any game, but when I was a kid in the NES era I burned the index and middle fingers on my right hand, and couldn't use them for gaming. (I'd already given up gamepads for arcade joysticks) I decided to play Mike Tyson's Punchout!! with my left had on the joystick (NES Advantage) and my left thumb hitting the buttons, just to see if I could play it at all that way. I wound up getting all the way to Soda Popinski!

Pong and Breakout/Super Breakout. I can play Pac-Man too but I can't get far into it.

Any graphic adventure on the PC.

Ys I&II (Turbo) and Earthbound (SNES) definitely come to mind.

Back in the early 90s, I broke my right arm (compound fracture, bone popped out and everything). So I was stuck with a sling and cast for a while. However when I hung out with friends and ended up in an arcade, I was jonesin' for some fighting games.

I eventually learned how to play SF2 and Samurai Showdown one handed. Granted, I was only really effective at playing "basic" (spacing, timed jumps, standard attacks, etc) and fireball motions (too iffy with shouryuken motions).

However I was able to beat quite a few people in the arcades like that. It was quite a rush to see people line up their quarters and get sent back in the queue. The most memorable wins would be if a guy walks away and mumbles something to the effect of... "I can't believe I lost to a guy with a broken arm". Hahaha

Over the course of my recovery from a broken left arm, my brother and I rented a handful of different SNES games, among them The Pirates of Dark Water and Super Smash TV. Neither was particularly well-suited to a one-limbed play style but in desperate times things were made to work (although it's hard to consider a game as "fun" when wrestling with vastly inadequate, imprecise control). Atari 2600 was far more of an achievable console at the time.

I suppose most Wii, Move and Kinect games can be beaten this way except for cases where you need the nunchuk for the Wii and the Navigation stick for the Move.

Well, I did beat Gapporin in MVC2 a few times using only one hand, and a regular 360 controller...

And then using only my feet too :X ...I wore socks! I swear!
