Default Trouble Playing Game Saved On PSP

I bought Castlevania Chronicles of the PSN PSOne section. Downloaded to PS3 then downloads to my PSP. Made a memory card save file. But whenever I try to play it, I just get taken back to the screen where I have to input my name and game starts at the beginning. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal? Tried searching the web, no luck and don't have a manual, thanks if anyone can help me out.

Make sure you also transfer the save file from your ps3 to psp. I think you can view what's on the memory card on your ps3 and press triangle (??) to open up a menu then choose copy and select the destination as your psp.
Edit: Also if you press the Home button on your psp or press the PS button on your PS3 you can view the manual.

I don't have a memory card hooked up to anything but I'll try the other things you suggested. Thanks for the advice.

You have to have a memory stick in your PSP, then on the PS3 transfer the SAVE FILE to the PSP.

I'm pretty sure you'd have a memory stick in the PSP if you got Castlevania Chronicles on there. If you made a save data on the PS3 you'll need to either copy the save data to the PSP or start from scratch.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

Yes, the copy option on the game's SAVE FILE will do the trick. (if you have a save file with properly saved progress on it on the PS3 that is.)
