    Default Snes not displaying

I have a original style SNES that I found in my attic the other day(forgot I had) and it does not display anything when turned on. I opened it up and cleaned everything and used hookups I know are good because I use them with my SNES mini. Any ideas to what it could be.

The red light DOES turn on so you know it's getting power right?

Yes the red light comes on and the screen turns black like a signal is reaching the tv just not displaying picture or sound.

    Try and isolate the problem.

Have you tried more than one game? Have you tried more than one tv? Have you tried different cords?

The cords, tv, and game all work because I used them all with my SNES mini version later that night.

Really sounds like dirty contacts, clean the SNES connector, sometimes some sandpaper wet with a little windex and slide it in and out if you don't have a cleaning kit works well.

Using an aftermarket thing that plugs inyo the cable jack, im guessing its an rf, I know it works since I use it with other systems, both it and SNES set to ch.3

If he's using the same hookups for his SNES mini he has to be using the console's AV output.

I would guess dead capacitors since it was kept in an attic, but first check if it works with it's own RF output instead of with that aftermarket output.
