    Default Need help with a Famicom to NES adapter

    I recently took apart my 72-60 pin adapter to clean it, but when I went to reassemble it, I couldn't figure out which way to put the circuit board in.

    The shape of the board is perfectly symmetrical and there are no tabs or notches to prevent it from going in the wrong way. I'm afraid to use it because if it's in the wrong way, it might cause a short circuit or connect a +5V signal to something that could be damaged by it.

    I don't know what brand it is. The sticker on the front is grey and has white text on it reading;

    72-60 PINS
    CARTRIDGE CONVERTER
    T89

    If anyone has the same one and could post a pic of the inside, that would rock. Otherwise I guess I'll have to track down some schematics and get out the multimeter.

    ... I've stuck carts the wrong way and never had a problem with it. The game just doesn't boot.

    Try it out with a copy of Super Mario / Duck Hunt if you're scared. :P

    This. A couple years back I pulled a converter from a Gyromite cart and installed it in a Game Genie case so I could easily plug games into it and still be able to remove it from my toploader. In the process of putting the thing together I definitely booted it up while mounted backwards, several times, with no issues.

    I've also put case-less carts and adapters into famicoms and top loader NES backwards and I've never caused any damage, as others have said the game simply won't boot.

    I think I go it. Thanks.
    That first pic shows the component side of the circuit board adjacent to the label side of the cart shell, so I just put my converter together that way.
    I only have a Retro Duo to test with, so I was a little nervous, even though it's apparently not that harmful to put it in backwards in an NES.
