Default The Sorcerors Apprentice..Anyone know anything about this Pr

I just got an Email from a friend...

Anyone know anything about this cart.?
    The Sorcerors Apprentice.

    His email to me..

A couple years back I bought an Atari 2600 porototype cartridge with a fully intact Loaner Lab label and the blank edge sticker
It was a Mickey Mouse game..The title on the front was Sorcu, so I had no idea it was actually The Sorcerors Apprentice. I haven't seen this game on any known prototype lists or released game lists, so I'm assuming it's very rare/possibly one of a kind.

I'm not entirely sure what the question is, but I'll give this a shot.

If the game inside the lab label case is Sorcerer's Apprentice then your friend is on crack. The game was released and is documented on ANY Atari 2600 list worth it's salt.

If the game inside the lab label case isn't Sorcerer's Apprentice, but rather "Sorcu", some undocumented game, then he's got a real find there, but my gut tells me it's just a shortened handwritten version of the released game. A picture of the screen could confirm this either way.

    Hope this helps?

I think my question would be..What's the value of this cart or how much is it worth..
    He wants to sell it.

Here's the email I just got from him..details/info.

I attached 2 pics of the outside of the cart, I'll let you know when I get screenshots. I played the game for awhile and it didn't seem very complete, but some Atari games can be like that sometimes. I believe the game did come up saying Sorcerors Apprentice if I remember correctly. When I get access to a working 2600 I'll be sure to take pics of each different screen.

The screen starts up with a big picture of Mickey Mouse and the copyright info and then I think (but I'm not sure) it moved to the title screen. Thefirst game is that you control mickey mouse on the bottom of the screen, moving him back and forth catching and shooting things that are falling. When you mave off the screen it goes to a different game screenwhere you can move around the screen and catch the broomsticks carrying buckets. You can move back to the other screen still as well. The reason I don't think that the game was complete is that it seemed impossible to die. This kinda made the game so that it wasn't as fun as it could've been.

My cousin had that game. I remember playing it every time I visited his house. Good times. That game and Tunnel Runner were the favorites of the evening.

True, but nearly every (Atari) released game started out as a loaner prototype
The one he has may be an earlier version of the game with different music, which would make it a little more valuable.
Understood, but his friend "had never heard of the game". Hence, crack addict.
