Default This is classic gaming awesomeness...

dunno if it's been posted, but I was watching some vids on youtube, and stumbled across this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGTwkcBY_gI

how freakin awesome is that!? I especially enjoy the second song. That song has been stuck in my head ever since I played Nemo as a kid. It is extremely badass. Their funky cover did the game and the song justice.

And here's another cool one also.

Apparently, this band covers classic game songs. Pretty talented bunch I think.

Well, I just wanted to share this bit of youtube gold with everyone.

Hey while you're at it, check out a band called "The Minibosses". you may have already heard of them, they've covered stuff from Castlevania, Metroid, Zelda, etc. Look em up
Oh no! The truck have started to move!!

That was alright, but I felt like there's really no energy behind their playing. Bands like The Minibosses or The One-Ups, even The Black Mages have stronger arrangements.

    I loved TwinParadox's stuff:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/THETWlNPARADOX
    He's a fellow DigitalPresser.

There's a TON of GREAT, great youtube covers of video game music now. I remember when there was very little. I remember when Minibosses first started releasing their mp3s.

Here's a great one of Heart of Fire from Castlevania: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcVOkvAa5aM
Kind of famous, I think. But just searching for "heart of fire" pulls up so many others.

Or this one from Italy of OutRun is a good one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZEor...eature=related

or Nanokojo's Star Light Zone / Mario: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhaHf...eature=related

LOVE this Demon's Crest keyboard one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B33fvdChFcA
(more for the keyboard lights than the sound)

    there's so many

You may also want to check out some composers playing their own music live. I did not like what I heard from Video Games Live, however here is Koichi Sugiyama conducting the London Symphony Orchestra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIzkdIf3SGY, Yuzo Koshiro DJing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dOnO...7842BC4CC74BCA, Hip Tanaka (Metroid, Dr Mario) DJing: http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=131132, Koji Kondo playing Mario: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba76TBu1OzI, etc. There are probably many other good ones, but I have not kept up in recent years.

Oh yes and Daddy Mulk live, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NteidGHXV7U I love this one. I guess it is uber-illegal since it comes from a DVD.

Sorry four-five posts in a row; ya'll live.

great stuff! love listening to this...

thanks for the other suggestions guys. I'm definitely going to check out these other bands to hear what they've got.

I guess the reason I really liked the DescendantsofErdrick video I posted, is because they covered Little Nemo. And that game is very very special to me. So when I stumbled upon their cover, they were automatically badass in my book.

You should try to hunt down the Orchestral Game Music Concerts CDs (there are five of them I think). They were performed in the 1990s by the Tokyo symphony orchestra. They are hell hard to find though...

Zuntata live is also an all time winner in my book !

I also have to recommend a radio site I hang out at called Rainwave.cc. One of their stations plays nothing but remixes, and there's a killer Little Nemo cover on there.
