    Default One-of-a-kind prototype wireless street fighter controller?

    *EDIT: TYPE darn it >_>

    Attached is a photo. Here's the story;

    When I was back in uni, looking for some cash, I managed to get myself a job doing some graphics work. I found out the guys I'm working for used to be in the games industry - one was apparently a producer or something on the original street fighter.. working for US GOLD etc. too. He apparently left all that to start up a controller business called Nubytech (famous for their resy evil controllers).

    Anyway.. this guy's Nuby business managed to die out, and I had to help him empty his office (he had another business and wanted to clean up or something).

    As a rewared.. I got LOADS of free stuff;
    Large Street Fighter Ltd. Edition Arcade stick
    All of the wired street fighter PS2 pads
    Resy evil ps2 and game cube controllers

    But then he took one of 3 leather boxes off the shelf.. and said "look after this, you will appreciate it more than the bin will.. its a prototype that we never made, we took them to E3 and went bust soon after"

    It was the box in the attached photo... a wireless street fighter Cammy controller... leather box, street fighter batteries, hard back comic book... a fantastic item.

    Now he said all this to me, and I haven't seen any photos of actual ones they released. I'm wondering if they are round?

    Would also be nice to get some evaluation for the item for insurance purposes... but tbh, I'm not a Street Fighter fan.. so there may be a possibility I'll be eBaying it to help drum up some cash for a house deposit. Let it go to someone who will appreciate it.

    I'll get some better photos of it if you really think its worth anything..

    Could you take it out of the small box and take some more pictures of it? It's kinda hard to see it.

    Something with that sort of presentation by the people who made it has to be worth something. I'd hold onto it as, unless the video game market crashes again, it'll probably appreciate in value.

    But I can't can that for certain. I just think that looks really damn cool.

    That is beautiful! Even the box oozes quality!

    As has been said, personally, i would never sell something so unique and aesthetically pleasing as that!

    I'm surprised DreamTR hasn't popped up in this thread. He worked in testing on the wireless pads, and he posted about them on the Shoryuken.com forums in 2008. Link: http://shoryuken.com/f177/nubytech-controllers-154857/

    If you don't want to bother reading the topic, here's the relevant information:

    They were not released. NubyTech's original plans were to release wireless controllers featuring Blanka, Cammy, Sagat, and Evil Ryu; however, the Blanka pad was canceled earlier than the others due to technical problems. Four prototypes exist for each of the Cammy, Sagat, and Evil Ryu versions, but only one prototype pad was ever made of Blanka.

    In summation, your Cammy pad is one out of only four that were ever produced. Controllers featuring three other characters also exist. DreamTR indicated that some of them might have been sold off through eBay when NubyTech was liquidating their products.

    I'm actually wondering who you are referring to where you got the Cammy controller from because I know when I was there only 4 of each character exist sans Blanka. There "might" be two Blankas, but he was indeed cancelled even before all this.

    I know BuyAtari may have one of these, Tom Stratton should have one, I have one, and I think Vinh Trieu has one.

    In terms of history, I would love to know who this person is because, well, I worked at NubyTech exactly during this time...Paul Chen wad behind NubyTech back then, so unless it was him, I don't know who is being talked about. He was not a producer on Street Fighter, though. I "think" we had someone in the UK who we did stuff with whose name escapes me, but if anything he definitely did not start NubyTech. That was based in Santa Monica.

    The item definitely did not come out. Costs were pretty high at the time. I still have all of my characters including Cammy but would be interested in another Cammy as this is one of the products during my time period but when we sold these on eBay (the prototypes remaining) they went for between $50 and $175 back in 2006.

    Hooray, it's Dream! I knew that mentioning him would get him to show up.

    Here are Evil Ryu and Sagat that I found.

    Here is a Nubytech Christmas card which seems to feature a wireless Street Fighter controller on the front.

    I saw the other ones >_<
    On the back of UK NubyTech products, the contact was somewhere in Birmingham - Pig House or something...
    Basically, a man named Peter said he used to be some Street Fighter producer, working at US Gold... and went onto NubyTech. I worked with him as a graphics girl part time when he was emptying the office - I even helped him clean up a new apartment he got...
    He needed to clear out all his stuff, and gave me LOADS of Chinese test pads, loads of various special edition pads that had been sent back to the Birmingham address for being faulty (most of the time still working of course)...
    but yeah.. he knew I loved games... and gave me this controller.. but its good to know the history a bit

    I'm still tempted to sell it.. it means a lot to me, but I'm not a Street Fighter fan..

    I wouldn't say worth a ton, but worth a little more than normal
