Default FS: SCART to Component Video Converter **VERSION 2**

    SCART to Component Video Converter
    **Version 2**

Are you interested in high quality retro gaming? Can't get enough of your SNES, Genesis or other retro console but don't like your video output options? Most retro consoles output high quality RGB signals via the SCART cable, but there are almost no TVs in the US that accept this connector.

    The solution?

Retrotek's SCART/VGA to Component Video converter. This board accepts any RGB signal via SCART or VGA connector, then converts them to YUV (component video) unscaled and unproccessed for the purest conversion component video possible. This will work for any console that outputs RGB video, and even works with computers. Yes this board will even work for connecting for computer to an HDTV and supports resolutions up to 720p.

    Super Nintento

    Sega Genesis

    Playstation 1

    Arcade/JAMMA (CPS2)

    720p from computer

Comes with board, power supply, and detailed manual

Price: $55 shipped US, $62 shipped worldwide. Paypal gift or +4%

No ebay listing this time, but you can see ebay feedback from this board here:

For any hardcore retro gamer in the US, this is an essential item. Great deal, I paid over $200 for basically the same thing.

    Default Besides the audio

Besides the audio, I want to know how is the chipset different than the CSY-2100?

I have never used that product, but the first thing I see is besides audio, that my device has support for both SCART and VGA up to 720p, and it's cheaper.

I have a question. Im not a super hardcore gamer on imports but just curious. I am soon going to have a sega megadrive 2 PAL version. Will that use scart? I am aware I probably wont even be able to really play it on my tv. just curious.

Any way to read the detailed manual ahead of time? I've got questions that are probably answered in there.

American, European, Japanese, they all can use SCART as it is just a connector type. Assuming the American/Japanese counterparts to the European console have the same pinout on the A/V connector you're golden.

The N64 is a notable exception as American N64s don't have RGB built in and some can be modded for it.

The real question is if this thing can deal with NTSC vs PAL vs PAL60.

It doesn't matter if your console is PAL or NTSC. As long as you use an SCART spec cable, it will work.

The problem lies in using an PAL console with a NTSC TV (or visa-versa), that will not work.

I'll post the manual as a pdf later tonight or tomorrow. I will need to reformat it as it is made for printing.

The device is blind, it will output at whatever frequency is input. NTSC in->NTSC out. PAL in-> PAL out.

So I bought the last one this fine sir had. As it's PCB only, I suppose I'm going to need to build some sort of casing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Won't that be sort of... enormous? A small project box from Radio Shack would probably do just fine. Maybe even an SNES cartridge.

Are those side pins on the narrow edge signal pass-thrus from the SCART input? I'd want to add a RGB/s 4BNC breakout cable before encasing. Kill two applications with one board.

Also marking thread for my subs, want to know when you replenish.

Yes they are pass through. They can be used as either inputs or outputs.

Ordering more boards today, this time a production run (will have a lot more board than last time), and the time from order to my door steps is about 3 weeks give or take a few days.

so if i wanted my saturn or ps1 to work on my lcd i basically just need their respective scart cables & the individual component output cables?

if another user can confirm it working as advertised you can put me down 4 the next batch, beats waiting around for the flame meister or an xrgb to pop up on ebay
