    Default XBLA Unloved Revival

    Hey guys,

I have to rant here for a bit.... Why is it that games like Perfect Dark and Duke Nukem 3D make the top 20 list of most downloaded games on XBLA.... yet the online servers are filled with nothing but gusts of wind and tumbleweeds... There completely dead.

Well, this thread is here to try and fix that. This is only a rough draft. I wanted to get the idea out on paper before I forget.

I'd like to make a list of XBLA games that get no multiplayer love.

I'll start with Perfect Dark XBLA. Anyone want to get down on some PD just chime in on this thread.

    cheers,
    Retromangia

Most of the XBLA titles out there have no real memberbase after a month of it being released. That is just how it goes.

Outrun HD is another one that lost all it's multiplayer enthusiasm. I think this was a result mostly of the multiplayer mode being pretty broken. There were always problems when I tried to start it. Still, I think it'd be a great multiplayer game.

This statement isn't just relegated to XBLA releases. The same can be said of 90% of games with a multiplayer aspect.

So true. To the OP, when these games get temperary price reductions(like last week when Perfect Dark and many others were on sale) their online multiplayer usually gets a boost but unfortunately that only last for a couple of days.

On April 1st I picked up X-Men arcade since it was 75% off and Unbound Saga because it was 80% off. I haven't tried playing either online yet but I'm pretty sure they too will be filled with dead lobbies. Then again, sometimes you get surprised, like when I try playing TMNT: The Arcade game and still manage to find people to play with.

This. Last summer I purchased a gold account and figured I'd player Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts online. I could not find another person playing the game.

That issue has been on since, well, practically forever in the console realm. Loved the game Phantom Dust on the Xbox. Got together with some regular folks on there then suddenly poof....empty.

Some don't even get a chance-I don't think I found *anybody* on Perfect Dark and I bought it when it came out (or close to it actually). Got one guy...who ventilated me with ease and I used to be somewhat ok at that game back in the day.

well, let's do something about this then..

who wants to play some perfect dark online fellas? Let's get a group together one of these days and rip it up. I think the game deserves some love.. don't yall agree?

I work a full 9-5, but let's try and get a group together sometime around 8pm eastern time. who's down?

feel free to recommend other unloved games too!

I got that game the day it was released(at 4 am that morning) and had no problems finding people to play with online for the entire first week. Now is a completely different story though.

XBLA games are pretty random with the player populations. Sometimes big-selling games have nobody playing, and sometimes the most obscure games still have people playing. I've still found people in games like Bust-a-Move and Doom recently.

And yeah, totally down for Perfect Dark whenever. I still play it every now and then with a few friends. PM me if anyone's interested.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?

Mine would be Tecmo Super Bowl for XBLA. TSB on NES/SNES is probably my favorite game of all time. I was super stoked to try the online play at release, but it only lasted a couple weeks, and it was broken at that. There were no quit penalties, so I'd take a lead late in the game, and *poof* player dropped. Every. Time.

Games die off way too quick on console.
I still play PC games from the 90's online and have no trouble finding other players.

If Xbox live were free the player numbers would probably last atleast a little bit longer.

There's hardly anyone playing UMK3 as well. A few days ago I tried to find a game and crickets were chirping in the UMK3 Lobby. About 10 minutes later someone finally appeared.

I would be playing that if I had it, unfortunately, you can no longer buy the game.
