Dude.........This is the first time I have looked at this thread and these are amazing. Def going to get Alien Soldier and Magic Warrior printed somewhere and swap them with the covers I have. I didn't even know many of these games existed. Are the pokemon and lord of the ring games good being unlicensed? Are they like homebrew? I am going to try making my own repros very soon so I will be using these covers. I starting with NES games first then hopefully snes and genesis. Nice Work.

Thanks man. Glad you dig the covers.

As for the Pocket Monsters games, they're OK in a weird Chinese pirate way. The second one is better than the first. As far as gameplay goes they're not bad, I always compare them to the Bubsy games, they're about as good as the Bubsy games with the additional perk of how f-ing weird they are. You fight all sorts of weird shit in addition to other pokemon, it's just silly fun. They're not glitched or anything and are fully beatable. I'd suggest you try them on an emulator before laying down any cash to be sure that you're into what they've got going. Also the second one has really catchy music.

Lord of the Rings is probably the best Chinese pirate fighting game on Genesis (which isn't saying much since most of them are unplayable). It's engine is pretty decent and the physics actually work logically. The characters even have special moves. The levels actually look pretty good and they did a good job making them look like actual locales from the LOTR movies (or books I guess). The characters look pretty good too, nicely detailed and accurate, except Frodo who's just way too goddamn big for a hobbit. I guess they couldn't scale the sprites down so he's the same size as the other fighters. Overall it's pretty fun to play, especially with a friend on VS mode. The 1p mode is very repetitive, you beat all the characters and then you have to fight some of them again, up to 3 times even. Then eventually it just congratulates you for beating the game lol. Compared to the likes of MK or Street Fighter, this is no masterpiece, but it is lightyears beyond other pirate fighters like Soul Blade or all those godawful King of Fighters rips offs.

lol So you were right... I went to Fedex Office (Kinkos) today to get 2 of the covers printed. I go in and the guy I talk to is all cool, I told him I needed a copy of each cover on photo paper and he opens it up on the pc and everything is cool. Then his boss walks out and asks him if it was for a school project, and I said no they were just some unreleased games. He wouldn't let me print them because of the sega trademark. All in all I gave in without really fighting because I didn't want the cool guy to get in trouble. The good thing is I didn't realize the Clamshell size ones would fit on 8.5 by 11 until the cool guy told me. So I went home and printed it myself on some soft gloss photo paper and it looks awesome. And the size came out right and everything (using photoshop of course)

They lost my business, although I understand they have to watch their backs on the copyright issue.

If someone actually uses that to create a CIB Crazy Bus repro, PLEASE post a photo. That would be the most amazing thing in the world...

I'm thinking of ordering one myself just for shits and giggles. I just gotta make a little manual for it. It'll probably be a one page instructions card.

Holy crap these are beautiful. I particularly like the Sonic boxes. Gotta get me a decent printer or haul my ass over to Kinko's. Where abouts would I get a box of the right make and dimensions?

Yeah I've printed some of the labels myself. I did them using nice glossy photo paper and a decent laser printer. Then to stick them on I used an all-purpose glue stick, actrylic gel also works but is a little trickier to apply. Also the labels are a little hard to cut out, I use a credit card and a razor blade or hobby knife to get nice straight edges and the rounded corners.

Thanks! The covers are formatted for 2 different types of boxes: the Sega clamshell case - which is the standard black plastic case that most Genesis (non-Electronic Arts) games came in. You can always just buy a crappy sports game for a dollar and salvage that case. The UGC (Universal Game Cases) you could buy from various places online, I got mine from www.nintendorepairhut.com, however they're sold out right now, but should be back next month.

This hack is pretty awesome, you get to play as all 3 characters through Sonic 2. You can rotate who you're controlling and even take all 3 of them into the special stage. They also have all their special moves from Sonic 3, including the elemental shields and even their super forms when you get the emeralds. Surprisingly it runs really smoothly with only some slowdown during a few of the bosses. Overall it's a pretty cool hack and it's supposed to run on real hardware. You can find it here: http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=23302

Thanks! I don't have any plans to do PCE covers any time soon. I'm not saying no, just right now I don't have a template or anything, and TBH I don't even know much about that system.

Anyway, here's another great Genesis game.

awesome work as usual! can I request that you take the text logo from the first Undeadline art and place it over the skull cartridge art (genesis version)? Id like to try making this cart and think it would be cool to use the different skull artwork for the cart label, only it makes sense that the text should match the outer genesis sleeve art

also, how about something for Snow Bros?

PM'd you that Undeadline label. As for Snow Bros, yeah it's definitely on my list of covers that I want to do, I just need to find some artwork for it. If you have some, send it my way and I'll see what I can do.

I can probably get you a high res scan of the Japanese artwork of Snow Bros. if that will help?

I think repro sounds so much softer than "pirate", don't you?
