Default PSN down, and no DP chatter about it?

SO I've had a pretty busy week, and tonight started up my PS3 for the first time in a while. I was unable to sign in to PSN.

I then looked at the PSN blog and learned that the network's been down since yesterday, and the Sony rep states the network may be down for another 1 or two days. There are numerous juvenile complaints on the PSN forums, with a very few mature messages buried in the threads.

I was surprised to not find any mention at all of the outage here at DP.

    Did anyone besides me notice?

I read about it on kotaku. Apparently psn suspects they were actually "attacked" by an activist group, but the group themselves denied it. The article was really vague, with no links to back anything up. Id post a link to it but I'm on my cell.

At least the ps3 works offline, unlike last march when every ps3 had that internal clock issue.

Pshh, it's just PSN. It's not like Live! was down or anything.

Yeah, the lack of PSN sucks, but I just got my PS3 back from Sony last week, so I'm still basking in the glow of having a working system, offline or otherwise.

Well, I haven't resumed playing GoW (on the PS2) since beginning it a while back (probably over a year ago). And I stalled on Bioshock before travelling to NOLA in late-December.

I'll use this time to return to those, and take a break from Gravity Crash and the user-generated levels.

While I certainly took a long time to enter the current-gen gaming scene, I still can't get over just how much I like my PS3. It's just cooler than words can describe, even with the PSN outage....

Of course it's down just in time to prevent me from unlocking a PC/Mac version of Portal 2 by linking my PSN & Steam account. Damn!

Same here. At least I'm going out of town for the weekend anyway, so I won't really miss out much.

Same here. Last time I used my PS3 was to play the Mortal Kombat demo about two weeks ago. Supposedly there was a Home update the other day. I wonder if that had something to do with the outage or if it was the group Announomous again.

I've seen a lot of speculation about these outages being related to attacks by hackers. If that's the case, my faith in humanity has just ratcheted down a few more clicks.

As far as HOME goes, based on past HOME outages that haven't affected the entire PSN, I believe that HOME and the rest of the PSN are not married to the point that it could take down the whole network.

Noticed this last night when I went to play Demon's Souls. No big deal to me. It's nice to have it but I don't need it.

For some, it's a welcome reprieve from the constant updates that PSN pushes out.

I hope this makes Sony and Capcom realize not to use that fucking DRM shit for their DLC games.

I hope they "apologize" by eliminating this DRM bullshit from their games. Not like they ever will anyway.

It does seem silly, especially since it's not universally implemented on all PSN software.

Hopefully they patch it out at some point.

Funny how people forget the similar XBLA outages in 2008.

I was talking to Joe about it yesterday and he couldn't recall it at all.
