Default Best way to play Gamecube imports?

What's the most hassle free way to play Japan-only games on my US region GC?

Freeloader? I don't know if it works with every game, but you can't get easier than that. Although you have to watch out for the memory card issue, some Japan games will format your card for Japanese games, erasing whatever is already on there. Safest thing is to keep two separate cards.

Thats what I currently do and it works great for the games I have.

Is it possible to play GC back-ups through a softmodded Wii with a burned DVD or through an SD card?

Yes you can play gamecube imports or backups on a softmooded wii, dont think you can run the games off a sd card.

Or you can install a region switch on a gamecube.

I opted to just install a region switch. Simple install, awesome results.

Be sure to watch out when it comes to memory cards. The different region settings will overwrite cards that don't match.

US and Europe saves are okay on the same memory card, but yes you need a separate one for Japanese games.

Japanese and US saves mix fine without a hitch. The only thing you have to worry about is inserting a memory card formatted by a different region console. In other words: memory cards formatted by a Japanese system will prompt formatting when inserted into a US or European system. The card must match the console.

Of course, this only applies when using swap discs that do not change the region. If one does try a region switch, a seperate memory card is required for each setting.

I think it depends on the game. I have a Japanese Baten Kaitos file that's happily coexisting with my US files, but I believe certain Japanese games will detect if a card is formatted for a different region and will format if not.

I've been curious of this for a while after having similar results with Bleach GC. It seems completely fine, but asks to reformat every so often. I never had that happen before or since.

Does anyone know what the laser pot tweak is, after the Mod chip is installed?
